Indian Orchard Mills to host open gallery event

INDIAN ORCHARD – Step into decades of history at Indian Orchard Mills Nov. 12 and 13, noon to 4 p.m., where you will have the opportunity to meet over 50 artists of all mediums.

Artists, consisting of painters, weavers, woodworkers, mixed media, jewelers, glass blowers, photographers, etc., open their doors to their very own private studio and workspace. Take a tour of each studio as you meet the artists and have a chance to purchase one-of-a-kind art. Enjoy refreshments and snacks as you journey through the multi-story buildings making your way to the showcase of work in the Dane Gallery.  

Your attention will be torn between the majestic autumn imagery that surrounds the mills and the abundance of creative art designs that fill the hallways and studios throughout. Between the vast array of unique art pieces and the scenery, you’re sure to have a wonderful experience.  

The artists’ community at Indian Orchard Mills has continued to grow over the years and this year is no different. The following five talented artists are new to the Mill and are looking forward to opening their studios and meeting you; Steve Montemagni, Debbie and Craig Marshall, Marck Bashaw, Bunnell Photography and Jennifer Cruz.

Monte Glass is a business founded by glassblower Steve Montemagni from Belchertown.  He works on a bench-mounted torch to manipulate borosilicate glass into unique works of art. Steve finds the joy his pieces bring to people motivating and is inspired by nature and the world around him.  His work can be viewed on Instagram @Monteglass and Facebook Monteglass.

Marshalls Photography is a husband and wife photography team photographing families in their new studio at Indian Orchard Mills and weddings on location.  Debbie and Craig know how important it is to perfectly capture that special moment and/or event resulting in beautiful timeless art pieces that will last for generations to come.

Marck Bashaw is a glassblower who specializes in using raw gold and silver to produce iridescent colors and effects throughout the glass. Marck also works with a bench-mounted blowtorch.

He creates a variety of objects such as marbles, pendants, ornaments, smoking pipes, sculptures, wine glasses, and spinning tops.  Marck has been taught by world-renowned artists including Bandhu Dunham and Jason Howard in places such as Snowfarm Crafts and The Corning Museum of Glass.

Bunnell Photography specializes in weddings, family portraits, and baby photography. The company is recommended by many wedding venues in the area and has photographed over 600 weddings since its founding in 2002.

Jennifer Cruz is a graffiti artist from Boston who has been self-taught to crochet, sew, and make jewelry.  Right now, however, Jennifer is knee deep in Macarons.  She has always had a passion for baking and has opened her own business, Springfield Macarons, which is keeping her quite busy catering to individual orders, special events, and custom orders.
