Holyoke Girls Inc. nominates Bay Path for '10 HSF award

HOLYOKE For the past decade, the Human Service Forum (HSF) has honored area businesses and organizations that have played a significant role in supporting the human services of the Pioneer Valley. This year, Girls Incorporated of Holyoke (Girls INC.) was proud to nominate Bay Path College (BPC) for the 2010 Human Service Forum Business Award for its commitment to the community and specifically, Girls Inc.
The Human Service Forum awarded Bay Path College with this honor at the Annual HSF Awards Dinner at The Log Cabin on May 19.
Over the years, the Bay Path community has vastly contributed to Girls Inc. of Holyoke through board involvement, financial support, and expertise in various subject matters.
Specifically, Bay Path Professor of Communications and English John Jarvis, Ph.D., and his students have produced videos for the organization's annual fundraisers.
Bay Path has invited participants of Girls Inc. to the Longmeadow campus for leadership activities.
Previously, Caron Hobin, MBA, vice president for planning and student development at BPC, served on the Girls Inc. Board of Directors, and today, Kathleen Robbins, the College's director of human resources, is on the Board.
"Bay Path's motto 'Carpe Diem: Seize the Day' ties in perfectly with Girls Inc.'s mission to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold," Suzanne Parker, executive director of Girls Inc. of Holyoke, said. "Bay Path College provides transformational opportunities for Girls Inc. participants. We are so thankful for their unlimited dedication and unmatched support."
Janna Chapdelaine, director of development and public relations and Bay Path College Alum, Undergraduate Class of 2006, said, "As a student I was always impressed with the way Bay Path gave back to the community. Now, in my work with Girls Inc., I see just how great the impact Dr. Carol Leary and the college has on the lives of so many. I am so proud to call Bay Path my alma mater and could think of no other greater deserving of this award."
