Suddekor celebrates 10 years in business
Suddekor's East Longmeadow facility
AGAWAM This year, Suddekor North America, based in Agawam, celebrates its 10th year in business, looking back on a decade that has seen the construction or purchase of three facilities and countless technology upgrades.
Suddekor, a subsidiary of 2D-Group, one of the world's leading d cor printers and impregnators headquartered in Laichingen, Germany, supplies printed decorative materials for flooring, countertops, cabinetry, store fixtures and office furniture to the North American market.
The company launched in Western Massachusetts in April 2000, constructing a new facility that housed one production press, one lab press and a cylinder engraving department. The company grew steadily, necessitating the addition of a second lab press and then a second production press during the first three years of operation alone.
In 2005, Suddekor expanded beyond its footprint in Agawam, building a second facility in East Longmeadow dedicated to treating decorative papers. Just three years after the first treating plant was opened, a second treating facility was added in Biscoe, N.C., to meet growing product demands.
Most recently, Suddekor has added a standard solid-color line of treated papers to its offerings, available to all customers. The product addition was in response to continued health in the laminate industry, as both residential and commercial customers turn to the material to curb costs and utilize environmentally friendly, sustainable materials.
"Suddekor's core strength in the North American market is what we call 'Single Source Control," said Andreas Gottzmann, President and CEO. "We're the only North American supplier to the laminate industry that offers manufacturers a complete service from design, including wood finishing, scanning and separations, to cylinder engraving, printing and treating."
Gottzmann goes on to note that Suddekor's strong commitment to its customers is seen most notably in the company's ongoing investments in equipment and new technology.
"Ultimately, this results in excellent service and better positioning of the company to meet the demands of the industry," Gottzmann said. "We strive to make it easy for our customers to do business with us."
