AGAWAM – A Cancer Survivorship kickoff event on March 4 at St. John’s Parish Center, 833 Main St., at 6 p.m. will welcome the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to Western Massachusetts.
The event will feature keynote speaker Dr. Jay Burton, a leukemia and stem cell transplant survivor. Burton will discuss his cancer journey and his vision of establishing a primary care cancer survivorship program for the Greater Springfield area for all cancer survivors.
A complimentary dinner will be provided by EB’s Restaurant to all attendees.
At this kickoff event, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, in conjunction with Springfield Medical Associates, will also be announcing the establishment of a monthly adult blood cancer support group scheduled to begin April 24 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., also to take place at St John’s Church Parish Center. This support group will be facilitated by Maryann Paleologopoulos MSW, LICSW, Kara Sawyer BSN, RN, and Dr. Jay Burton of Springfield Medical Associates.
