CHD hosting information sessions

SPRINGFIELD The Institute for Dynamic Living, a program of the Center for Human Development (CHD), is pleased to present a series of free information sessions for parents, friends, clinicians, and anyone in the community interested in learning about topics related to children's development. Each session will take place at 342 Birnie Ave.|
On April 10 at 5 p.m., presenter Melanie Collins, M.Ed., OTR/L, will discuss "Practical Sensory Strategies for Home, School, and Community." She will explore various strategies of handling issues with children or teenagers who have difficulties adjusting to their environment. Additionally, she will discuss symptoms of sensory integration and how best to deal with those issues.
On May 13 at 6 p.m., Tina Champagne, OTD, OTR/L, program director of the Institute for Dynamic Living, will present "Trauma and Attachment 101." This presentation will give insights into the ways trauma may impact development, attachment formation, and behaviors. She will also discuss different attachment styles and how to handle issues in these specific areas. Information will be provided about resources that can help with these problems.
Interested attendees must call at least one day prior to each event to reserve a seat by calling 439-2170.
CHD's Institute for Dynamic Living provides a broad array of services by leaders in the field of mental health and occupational therapy to help adults and children develop the necessary skills to foster independence and engage more fully in meaningful roles, routines, and activities. Weekday, evening, and weekend hours are offered to meet the needs of those with busy schedules.
