Fundraiser to take place in memory of Brianna
The family of Brianna Christine Donovan is sponsoring the Second Annual "Summer Starts Tonight" benefit concert featuring the music of John Eddie with very special guest Talos. The all ages concert will take place June 13 at the Waterfront Tavern in Holyoke.
Advance tickets are $20 and are available by contacting Jim Skiffington at 454-4197, skiff17@charter.net or through www.NBOtickets.com.
Tickets will also be sold the day of the show for $25 at the Waterfront Tavern. There will also be a silent auction and raffle at the event.
Donovan was 17-years-old when she was tragically killed in a car accident on Aug. 29, 2006, the day before she was to begin her senior year at East Longmeadow High School. She was driving to work on a rainy afternoon when her car skidded out of control and hit a tree. Donovan was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from her car. She fought valiantly, but succumbed to her injuries a few hours later at Baystate Medical Center.
In the wake of this devastating event in their lives, Donovan's family has set up the Brianna Christine Donovan Scholarship Foundation. The foundation awards scholarships to two deserving East Longmeadow High School seniors and promotes the use of seatbelts by young drivers.
