Better Life Whole Foods, 1500 Allen St., Springfield, had a celiac (gluten free) open house on June 6. 3hree Caf at 684 Belmont Ave. served chocolate cake. Vendors included Aleia's Breads, Amy's Cookies, Andean Dream Cookies, Bob's Red Mill, Erewhon Cereal, Joan's Bagels/English Muffins, Kettle Cuisine, Liz Lovely, Lisanti Cheese and Patricia's Pizza. There was also gluten free beer from Red Bridge. Chef Ingrid Lysgarrd from the Boston area demonstrated how to mix, bake and serve gluten free crackers. Chef Ingrid writes for the Boston Globe. Goodie bags with gluten free items were given to the 30 to 40 people who attended. Prizes were also donated by Amy's and Garden of Life. Local author Melanie Krumrey from Amherst, who wrote "Bagels, Buddy and Me," was also on hand.
