|LONGMEADOW Jewish Geriatric Services (JGS) will host an informational program for seniors and caregivers sharing perspectives on "Transitions of Aging," on Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Julian J. Leavitt Family Jewish Nursing Home, 770 Converse St. |

The presentation will include: psychodynamics of families during transitions; conversations, setting ground rules, negotiating with loved ones and saying those difficult words with love and respect; coping emotionally, spiritually and physically through "changes in status;" importance of rituals during transitions; importance of reaching out for help; addressing feelings of guilt and helplessness; locating the necessary resources.
The scheduled speakers represent a spectrum of experience in assisting those facing the challenges of aging including seniors and their loved ones. Panel members will include: Carol Kantany Casartello, JD, JGS Board Member and family member, Rabbi Devorah Jacobson, Board Certified Chaplain, JGS Director of Pastoral Care, JGS, Benjamin Liptzin, MD, Chairman, Department of Psychiatry at Baystate Health; Professor and Deputy Chair of Psychiatry at Tufts University School of Medicine and Susanne McGlynn, BSN, RN, JGS Case Management Associate.
