Johnsen keynotes Northern Connecticut Vegetarians' Potluck
GREATER SPRINGFIELD On April 17 at 4:30 p.m., join Northern Connecticut Vegetarians' Potluck with Claudia Johnsen, Ph.D., as the featured presenter.
Johnsen will speak on "Nutrition and the Early Origins of Adult Disease" or "How to Get Over What Your Parents Did Wrong." She'll examine how nutrition from before people are even conceived, and then throughout our life, play a role in later development, disease, and health.
Johnsen is a nutritionist specializing in nutrition in the lifecycle, including prenatal nutrition, nutrition in infancy and childhood, nutrition from teens through adults, and seniors. Her nutritional point of view is an all natural, vegetarian approach.
She is the author of five books: "One Hand Cooking: Vegetarian," "Moms, Babies, and Breastfeeding: What Resilient Moms Know About Making Breastfeeding Work," "Once There Were No Trees," "Once There was Just Me," and with her husband, Christopher Johnsen, D.C., "Secrets of the Top Herbs."
To round out the evening, there will be a vegan potluck with two serving tables one for raw food and the other for conventional vegan food. Participants should bring a healthy vegan dish to share along with a note card listing your recipe and your name. Also, be sure to bring a place setting.
A donation of $8 per adult is requested.
This event will take place at the Carniglia Senior Center, 41 Oak Street, Windsor Locks, Conn.
