Local dentist sponsoring candy buy-back

SPRINGFIELD — What’s a ghost’s favorite candy? BOO-ble gum!
One area dentist is redefining the phrase “put your money where your mouth is.” This Halloween, trick-or-treaters can bring their excess candy to Dr. Laura Gramse’s Springfield office and receive $1 per pound. Gramse is leading this anti-decay movement by giving away dollars, flashing toothbrushes and a free kid’s meal coupon to Leone’s Restaurant in exchange for cavity-provoking candy.
Visiting the dentist twice a year and brushing daily are great preventative measures, but doing away with excess sweets altogether really give teeth a healthy boost. Kids can still have all of the fun of trick-or-treating, and now their piggy banks will benefit as well.
Candy will be collected at Gramse’s office, 2194 Wilbraham Road, on Nov. 1 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The candy must be unopened. It will then be shipped to troops overseas. Kids are encouraged to come in costumes and staff will also have a special area designated for writing thank you letters to the troops. For more information, call Gramse’s office at 783-6907 or visit www.drlauragramse.com.
