Rotary luncheon to discuss health care reformSPRINGFIELD Dr. Marylou Buyse, president and chief executive officer of the Massachusetts Association of Health Plans, and William B. Vernon, state director of the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), will address the Springfield Rotary Club's luncheon meeting on Oct. 10. Their topic will be "Health Care Reform and the Commonwealth."
Buyse is board certified in medical genetics, pediatrics and medical management. She currently has a faculty appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine and teaches at the Boston University School of Public Health. She also maintains a primary care practice at New England Baptist Medical Associates in West Roxbury.
Vernon has been the state director for NFIB since May 1999 and served nine years in the Massachusetts House of Representatives for the First Bristol District. He was the executive director of the Massachusetts Republican Party from 1994-97. In 2004, he was elected chair of the board for Mansfield Bank.
The Springfield Rotary Club meets every Friday at 12:15 p.m. in the Mass Mutual Room at the Basketball Hall of Fame, West Columbus Ave., and is a proud member of Rotary International. The Rotary luncheon, with guest speakers Dr. Marylou Buyse and William B. Vernon, is $17 per person and is open to the public.
