SPRINGFIELD Sonography Associates Inc. has recently been notified of its accreditation by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories.
Sonography Associates Inc. was established in 1992 as an independent diagnostic medical ultrasound facility in the Greater Springfield area and has a long history of service to the local community. They have been accredited by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine since 1996 to perform Obstetrical, Gynecological and Abdominal Ultrasound.
With cardiovascular disease as the leading cause of death in the United States, costing more than $83 billion in health care costs and lost work annually, the vascular ultrasound services, such as that provided by Sonography Associates Inc., can be a vital aid in providing advance warnings of problems which, if not detected can lead to stroke.
Sonography Associates Inc. is one of a select number of vascular labs in North America to meet or exceed the standards of the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular laboratories for non-invasive testing for Carotid and DVT ultrasound. The accreditation process covers every aspect of each laboratory's daily operation and its impact on the quality of health care provided to patients. In completing its application for accreditation, Sonography Associates Inc. was required to identify and correct potential problems, revising protocols and validating quality assurance programs.
Participation in the accreditation process demonstrates the laboratory's attention to a high level of patient care and quality testing.
At this time most insurance companies are requiring laboratories obtain accreditation status.
Sonography Associates Inc., located at 780 Chestnut St. in Springfield, services a large number of local physicians, medical insurers and area hospitals.
