Step up and sponsor your local fire department and the ALA |

SPRINGFIELD On March 6, many local fire departments will be stepping up in the fight for air at the American Lung Association's Climb Springfield at Monarch Place. Challenging themselves with each step by carrying an additional 70 pounds of weight, the firefighters will climb 24 floors in full turnout gear, including air tanks, while competing for the Fastest Fire Department trophy. It is a great team-building opportunity and the competition raises money and awareness for the important lung health education, advocacy and research the American Lung Association (ALA) provides. You can pledge to your local fire department's team by logging on to climbofyourlife.org and clicking Climb Springfield.
Climb Springfield event sponsors include Comcast, Health New England, JTs Sports Pub, Instar, Peoples Bank and Cafe Lebanon.
The challenge is open to everyone, so if you think you have what it takes to Climb Springfield, register online at climbofyourlife.org or call 1-800-LUNG USA today! Join as an individual or create a team and take on the 686 stairs at One Monarch Place in Springfield with the ALA to support lung disease research and prevention. Check-in begins at 9 a.m., and staggered start times for climbers will begin at 10 a.m. There will be an afterparty and awards presentation for climbers at JTs Sports Pub immediately following the event.
The ALA of New England is part of the American Lung Association, the oldest voluntary health organization in the U.S. Established in 1904 to combat tuberculosis, its mission today is to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease.
