Tapestry Health, PURE Lounge team up for free HIV testing |
|
SPRINGFIELD Tapestry Health Men's Health Project in conjunction with PURE Lounge would like to announce its new free MSM Community Testing Night. The Men's Health Project will be providing free rapid HIV and STI testing, and one on one HIV risk reduction education every Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the PURE Lounge at 234 Chestnut St. in downtown Springfield. The Men's Health Project will no longer be offering its Thursday night Coffee Caf Drop-in Center and drop-in testing at 365 Bay St. and will be using the old Daddy's space donated by the PURE Lounge instead.
Tapestry Health Men's Health Project has also relocated to 15 Main St. in Holyoke. The new Holyoke location affords Tapestry Health's Men's Health Project more opportunities to focus on increasing the availability of free HIV testing events in Western Massachusetts and increase the accessibility of services throughout the region.
Samuel Woodham, Outreach and Community Services Program Supervisor, MSM, said, "The MSM (men who have sex with men) rates of HIV and STD/STI infections are still increasing here in Western Massachusetts. The opportunity to further strengthen the Men's Health Project's presence and accessibility in the community is crucial in helping to reduce the spread of HIV, as well as other STIs in the region. Local community support, like the donation of space by PURE, is essential for continued education, testing and prevention services directly in the community. We're excited to begin these services every Wednesday evening in downtown Springfield."
If you have any questions, or would like to learn more about other testing events, please feel free to contact the Men's Health Project at mhp@tapestryhealth.org or call 1-800-696-7752 ext. 434.
