The loss of a job or the addition of extra work can be balanced by releasing stress through exercise

GREATER SPRINGFIELD People who may have recently lost their jobs or are overloaded with additional tasks at work may be interested to learn that exercise releases endorphins.

"Endorphins, sometimes known as runner's high, improves mood and releases stress," says Elizabeth Lenart, Fitness Director at the JCC Health & Fitness Center.

The JCC Health & Fitness Center believes in focusing on something other than outwardly appearance.

"We encourage people to focus on healthy living and overall wellness, so that they will feel good on the inside," says Lenart. "People can participate in fitness activities that promote peace of mind, alleviate stress, and promote social outlets."

Americans who need to cut back financially might want to consider dropping sedentary activities, such as DVD or extended cable services, and keep fitness activities.

The Springfield JCC Health & Fitness Center welcomes everyone to enjoy its facilities, including fitness classes, water aerobics classes, a fitness studio, an olympic size swimming pool and more. Members can also enjoy full service locker rooms, each with Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Manicures, pedicures and massages are also offered by appointment.

Children can participate in swim lessons and other athletic sports at the JCC Health & Fitness Center. Summer camp options are available for ages two through fifteen. There are also social opportunities for all adults at the Springfield JCC.

Special summer rates are available for new members. To take a tour, contact Abbie Weiss, (413) 739-4715 ext. 329, or aweiss@springfieldjcc.org, or stop by the Springfield JCC at 1160 Dickinson Street in Springfield.
