West Springfield Library hosts prescription advantage session

The West Springfield Public Library is pleased to host an information session about Prescription Advantage. Prescription Advantage is the Commonwealth's pharmacy assistance program for seniors and people with disabilities. Most people eligible for Prescription Advantage can obtain drug coverage through Medicare Part D, but that coverage entails monthly premiums, co-payments and the "donut hole" the nickname for a big financial gap in each person's Medicare prescription drug coverage. Even with prescription drug coverage from Medicare, the high cost of prescription drugs has often forced people to cut or skip prescribed doses or simply stop taking their medication altogether. Prescription Advantage helps ease this financial burden and improve medication compliance by reducing a member's out-of-pocket spending.

Kathy Campbell, Outreach Coordinator for the Prescription Advantage Program, will be present at the West Springfield Public Library on Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. to offer an informative presentation about the state sponsored program and answer any questions. This event is free and open to the public.

The West Springfield Public Library is located at 200 Park St. Call 736-4561 or e-mail wgevents@cwmars.org with any questions.
