NORTH GRANBY, Conn. High Meadow Day Camp is in session for eight weeks, beginning June 25 and ending on Aug. 17.
Children can be enrolled for four, five, six, seven or eight weeks. Each camper must have a physical exam that is current within the past three years and a completed health form must be received in the camp's office four weeks before the camper's first day of camp.
For camp rates and application forms, see the "downloads" page on the High Meadow's website, www.highmeadowdaycamp.com, or call or email the camp director's office at 860-653-9325.
Uniforms are a camp requirement and parents are very supportive of this policy because it eliminates the "what-to-wear" issue. High Meadow's uniforms are printed camp T-shirts and shorts. Orders are taken and distributed on the camper's first day.
An Open House takes place every spring for prospective campers and their parents and this year it will occur on April 29 from 1 to 5 p.m. Staff will be available to answer questions and give tours of the facilities.
Refreshments will also be served.
Those who are unable to attend the Open House, may contact the director to visit the camp at a more convenient time.
Campers say that what they like most about High Meadow are the friends, the staff, creating and singing songs on the bus, swimming, diving, sports, ice cream, arts and crafts, newspaper, being out in nature, special days, etc. Swimming with friends, improving their backstroke, creating a clay pot, hitting the bulls-eye in archery and it all results in happy smiles on children's faces. Camp organizers are committing to ensuring that fun never goes out of style.
At High Meadow the daily schedule is structured and supervised. A typical day includes: opening ceremony; tennis or soccer instruction and play; instructional swim; mid-morning snack; arts and crafts, music or dance; target or team sport; lunch; basketball or capture the flag; mini golf or low ropes course; afternoon snack; free swim; cooking, newspaper or storytime; and closing ceremony.
