Looking for summer fun? Spfld. Museums offer much

SPRINGFIELD The Springfield Museums' Summer Festival Days will continue August 10-14 with "Weird and Wacky Science." Activities are free with the price of museum admission unless noted.
Aug. 10
Make a wacky science picture frame, noon-3:45 p.m.
Aug. 11
Make a super science mobile or a magic scratch science ornament, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Aug. 12
Meet "TAM," the Transparent Anatomical Manikin, 11:30 a.m.
Performance: "Eye Don't Believe It," a magical science show of optical illusions by Bruce Kalver, 1 p.m.
Aug. 13
Meet "TAM," the Transparent Anatomical Manikin, 11:30 a.m.
Performance: "Science Isn't Always Pretty" by Keith Michael Johnson, 1 p.m.
Aug. 14
Meet "TAM," the Transparent Anatomical Manikin, 11:30 a.m.
Performance: "How the Body Works," by Marvelous Marvin A lively program that features a giant brain, a chorus of skeletons, a ten-foot tall circulatory system, and an eight-foot blinking nerve cell; 1 p.m

Hands-on Family Science Adventures, 12:30-3:30 p.m.
Planetarium shows, 11:15 a.m., noon, 1 & 2 p.m., Science Museum (additional fee).
Crafts and costumes in the Art Discovery Center, noon-3:45 p.m.
Art activities, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. (Tues.-Fri.)
"Summer Festival Days" are funded in part by Western Massachusetts Electric Company.
The Springfield Museums are located on the Quadrangle at 21 Edwards St. Free parking is available in the Edwards Street parking lots. Summer hours are Monday through Sunday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. (Science Museum open Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.). Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and college students, $5 for children 3-17, and free for children under three and museum members. General admission is free for Springfield residents with proof of address. The fee provides admission to all four museums and the Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden.
