Volunteers to read aloud still needed in Springfield

Springfield School Volunteers would like to announce that Babson Capital Management LLC is funding a new opportunity for volunteers to read aloud to kindergarten through fifth grade students in the Springfield Public Schools. Volunteers can sign up for a classroom in a participating school and read a pre-selected book to that classroom once per month from January through May. The brand new books are then donated to help build the classroom libraries.

This is an opportunity for volunteers who currently participate in the Springfield School Volunteers/Bank of America Read Aloud program that runs from October through December to continue reading aloud through May. Those who are interested can sign up by contacting Maureen Moriarty or by visiting the Springfield School Volunteers office, located in the Central Office of the Springfield Public Schools at 195 State St.

Call Springfield School Volunteers at 787-7015 for more information.
