DAN KANE YOUTH "IDOL" PROGRAM
The E.L. Rec. Dept. is sponsoring a "Dan Kane East Longmeadow Idol Youth Performance Training Session" April 19 - 22, during school vacation week, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Birchland Park Middle School. ELHS student Kate Mitchell will sing traditional holiday songs from the 1930s to today when she performs at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 N. EMERGENCY PLANNING COMMITTEE
The E.L. Emergency Planning committee will met Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. at the East Longmeadow Fire Dept. On the agenda will be a review of the minutes from the last meeting, a MRC update, HMEP and other business.
GARDEN CLUB HOLIDAY LUNCHEON
On Dec. 17 at noon in Fellowship Hall, E.L. Congregational Church, the E.L. Garden Club will host its holiday pot luck luncheon. Music will be performed by Meadow Brook School's second grade chorus. Feel free to bring a guest with you to our meetings. Guest's donation: $2. Sandy Burns will be donating a few of her beautiful baskets for a raffle. Remember to bring paper/toiletry products to donate to the Council On Aging for distribution to those in need.

INTRO TO ANCESTRY SOFTWARE
On Dec. 12 Storrs Library will host a short demo on searching for info using Ancestry Library Edition and Heritage Quest Online. Patrons are invited to sign up for a basic introduction to searching census records, passenger lists, revolutionary war pension applications, death records and more. NEW ZUMBA SESSION
Donna Gendron, Certified Zumba instructor, will lead another session Jan. 6 - Feb. 24 at 4 p.m. in the dining room of the Adult Center. The class is geared toward seniors. YOUTH WRESTLING
This program is designed to introduce wrestling to athletes at the youth level in grades 5 - 8. Youth wrestling focuses on proper techniques, conditioning and fundamentals necessary to enjoy and be successful in the sport of wrestling. Participants must provide their own wrestling shoes and kneepads. Program does not run when school in not in session. Program meets on Tues./Thurs. Youths in grades 6 - 8 and their same aged guests are welcome to enjoy a supervised evening out on Fri. from 7 - 10 p.m. at the Greenwood Center. Admission is $7. LONGMEADOW SOFTBALL ASSOC.
The Longmeadow Softball Assoc. offers the opportunity for girls in grades 1- 8 to play in a program designed to teach the game of softball in a fun environment and eventually progress to an increasingly structured and competitive setting. Beyond second grade, children are evaluated to play on a travel team at U10, U12 and U14 age levels depending upon the year they were born and all will be placed on a team. The season starts at the end of April and ends with playoffs for those teams that are eligible. A copy of a birth certificate is required at registration. BOYS LACROSSE ASSOC.
Boys in grades 3 - 8 are invited to participate. Practices are instructional and competitive games are scheduled with other youth lacrosse programs in Western Mass. and Conn. Program runs end of March - mid-June. Practices/games will be scheduled 3 - 4 nights per week plus some weekends. All participants must furnish their own sticks and the program requires mandatory helmets and gloves. Parent volunteers are welcome. LONGMEADOW BASEBALL ASSOC.
Participants ages 8 - 19 may participate in this instructional baseball program with a major emphasis on skill development. Competition is age group appropriate. New players must show a birth certificate at the time of registration to be eligible to play. The seasons will continue into July. All teams will have a travel schedule with about half of the games played away. Registration dates at the Community House are Feb. 6 from 10 a.m. - noon, Feb. 24 from 7 - 9 p.m., and Feb. 27 from 10 a.m. - noon. LITTLE LEAGUE ASSOC.
Ages 5 - 12. These leagues offer the best of both worlds: an opportunity to learn baseball while having fun and the chance to compete in the National League. All registrants will be placed on a team and all regular season games from April - June will be played in town. Advent/Christmas Concert

INFO ON COLLEGE FINANCING
Parents and students are invited to attend MEFA's free comprehensive presentation on college financing. The seminar will be hosted by the MacDuffie School on Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. An experienced MEFA rep will discuss the financial aid process. The seminar will teach parents how to apply for financial aid, compare financial aid award letters, and seek available financing options. Families will receive a seminar booklet which serves as a year-round resource. Time is allowed for questions and answers.
BLUE CHRISTMAS
There will be a Blue Christmas service of comfort, healing and hope at Foster Memorial Church in Sixteen Acres on Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. The focus of this service is to acknowledge and support people who are experiencing pain, grief or depression during the Advent/Christmas season. R.A.D. KIDS
The Wilbraham Police Dept. will be hosting a five-day r.a.d.Kids class at the YMCA. r.a.d.Kids is the national leader in children's safety with topics that include home, school and vehicle safety; out and about safety; realistic defense against abduction; good-bad-uncomfortable touch and stranger tricks.
