SANDSTONE QUARRYING
The E.L. Historical Commission presents Bruce Moore and Wayne Bickley with a PowerPoint presentation on the history of our local quarries April 22 at 7 p.m. at the Little Red School House, 35 School St. All welcome; refreshments will be served.
SPECIAL GLAZED SPIRAL HAM DINNER
April 22 at American Legion Post #293. Sponsored/hosted by students from Cathedral High School Culinary Club. Two seatings, 5:30 and 7 p.m. Price: $9.50. Menu: baked glazed spiral ham w/pineapple, garlic mashed potatoes w/mushroom gravy, mixed summer blend vegetables, garden salad, rolls and butter, carrot cake, soda, tea, coffee. ELHS SPRING CONCERT
The ELHS Music Dept. will present a spring concert featuring the jazz ensembles, vocal ensembles and concert band on April 29 at 7 p.m. in the ELHS Auditorium. Admission is $4. Children under 12 are free. The concert is open to the public.

ARTISAN & CRAFTS FAIR
May 1 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. St. Luke's Greek Church, 400 Prospect St., will present a fine arts, bake sale and fine crafts sale. Free admission.
MARLINS COMPETITIVE SWIM TEAM
The E.L. Rec. Dept. announces registrations for the summer competitive swim team are now in the office, Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m - 4 p.m. Those ages 6 - 18 are eligible to swim; practices begin May 3 (coaches will determine the best practice schedule for your child). CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS
The E.L. Rec. Dept. reminds those who wish to try out for fall cheerleading that tryouts will be April 26 - 27 at Birchland Park Middle School from 6 - 7:30 p.m. E.L. students entering grades 3 - 8 in Sept. are eligible. Squads for 3rd/4th, 5th/6th and 7th/8th grades. All will be invited to march in the Fourth of July parade. Registrations in the office 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., Mon. - Fri. For more info call 525-5437.
MICKEY MANTLE TRYOUTS
The E.L. Rec. Dept. hosts tryouts for those in grades 9 and 10 interested in playing Mickey Mantle baseball May 1 from 1 - 4 p.m. at the ELHS varsity field. Must be younger than 17 to play and must register before tryouts. Register at the Rec. Dept. Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
PINE KNOLL SUMMER CAMP
The E.L. Rec. Dept. is accepting registrations for Pine Knoll Summer Camp for children ages 4 - grade 8. First session begins June 28; camps run through Aug. 13. Fees and times vary based on age. Early drop off (7:30 a.m.) and late pickup (5 p.m.) available. Come into the Office Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. to register.
PINE KNOLL JR. COUNSELOR PROGRAM
The E.L. Rec. Dept. will offer the "CIT" program at Pine Knoll for those finishing grades 7 and 8. This is a leadership development program designed to provide hands-on learning and educational info. Limited to 20 per session. Begins June 28 for seven weeks, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Mon. - Fri. Must begin with a two-week consecutive session; can do one week at a time after that. 2010 RED SOX BUS TRIPS
The E.L. Men's Softball League/Rec. Dept. have tickets available for two remaining Red Sox games: June 16 vs. Arizona and Sept. 3 vs. Chicago. Starting time is 7:05 p.m. Seats are first base roof and lower boxes. Price includes ticket, transportation, box lunch. Come to Rec. Dept., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., Mon. - Fri. to order tickets. SENIOR FRIENDSHIP CLUB
The E.L. Senior Friendship Club will be entertained by "Honky Tonk Man Gary Landgren" April 22 at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 N. Main St. following noon lunch of roasted chicken, sweet potato fries, four-way mixed vegetables and vanilla pudding. Call 525-5436 for reservations.
FREE CAR WASH FOR SENIORS
The ELHS boys volleyball team will be conducting a free car wash (including vacuum) for seniors at the Pleasant View Senior Center on April 20 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. as part of community outreach.

VETERANS COFFEE HOUR
Area veterans are encouraged to attend the monthly coffee hour on April 20 from 9 - 11 a.m. at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 N. Main St. Frank Forastiere will speak about fundraising and data collection projects for the construction of the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C. Spouses and significant others are welcome.
MANICURES FOR SENIORS
Melissa from Melissa's Traveling Salon will be offering seniors promotional 15-min. manicures for $5 at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 N. Main St., April 28 from 9 - 11 a.m. This will include shaping the nails, paraffin wax, polish, hand/arm massage. Appts. can be made in the office.
BOOK CLUB
The Book Club meets the last Tues. of every month at 10:30 a.m. at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 N. Main St. The book for April is "Dark Tide" by Stephen Puleo. The Book Club is free and open to new members at any time.
HAMPDEN
FUN RUN AT THE LIBRARY
The April 24 Fun Run, part of the Run! Don't Walk to the Hampden Public Library program, is now open to all Hampden children in grades 3 and up. Meet at the starting line at 10:30 a.m. at the library at 625 Main St. First 30 participants will be given a special T-shirt. Run or walk just for the fun of it! This program is free thanks to a grant from the Hampden Cultural Council. For more info call 566-3047.

The Hampden Farmers' Market Committee is it seeking additional support for this year's market slated to begin May 15. The committee is looking for vendors, committee members, volunteers and sponsors. The Hampden Lions Club is taking orders for their Brown Gold fundraiser with deliveries on April 24. You may order it by the bag for $3 each or by the truckload for $50. Attention LPRD campers: Parks & Rec. will not offer camp during Week 10, Aug. 30 - Sept. 3 as previously advertised due to Longmeadow Public Schools start of the school year on Sept. 1.

About the budget to be voted on at the Annual Town Meeting, May 11 at LHS. Tune in Mondays at 6 p.m., Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. to hear Finance Director Paul Pasterczyk answer questions from our panelists from the Longmeadow Adult Center.
CAMP REGISTRATION HAS BEGUN

SWIMMING AND TENNIS
Be sure to visit www.LPRD.net or the Parks & Rec. office for a full listing of swim and tennis lessons. Lessons run in two-week sessions throughout the summer and encompass ages 3.5 - adult. Swim lessons feature discounts for 2010 Outdoor Pool Pass Holders. Keep in mind that when tennis courts are not being used for organized Parks & Rec. play, they are open and free to all Longmeadow residents. Private tennis instructors must have a paid permit to use the courts for lessons. Call Mary at 565-4166 to make arrangements for this permit, prior to teaching a lesson.
FALL SOCCER ASSOCIATION
This program will run Sept. - Nov. Kids in grades K - 8 are eligible. Games are scheduled for Sundays. Optional travel teams play their games weeknights and weekends. Uniforms will be provided. HISTORIC DISTRICT STUDY COMMITTEE
Will host a public hearing in the Brooks Room of the Wilbraham Public Library April 27 at 7 p.m. Discussion will be on the proposed local Historic District bylaw to be presented at the Annual Town Meeting in May. Text of the preliminary law is on file with the Town Clerk and is also available on the town Web site.
