EAST LONGMEADOW
BEGINNER TWEEN KNITTING CLASS
The Rec. Department is offering a beginner tween knitting class for those in grades, 6, 7 and 8 on Fridays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. beginning May 20 at Birchland Middle School. Cost: $30 for four classes (non-residents add $15). To register, visit www.eastlongmeadowma.gov.
CEMETERY ASSOCIATION MEETING
Baptist Village Cemetery Association will have its annual meeting May 4 at 6 p.m. in the Community Room at the East Longmeadow Public Library.
MOSQUITO SPRAYING
The Board of Health announced last week that aerial mosquito spraying will occur through May 4. The range of dates allows for the eventuality of inclement weather. The public is encouraged to call the Board of Health at 525-5400 ext. 1100, with any additional inquiries.
LIBRARY OPEN HOUSE
On April 30 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., an open house will take place at the East Longmeadow Public Library. This is an opportunity to meet the Library Trustees, take a tour and find out more about the many services and resources it offers. All events are free and open to the public. SENIOR FRIENDSHIP CLUB
The East Longmeadow Senior Friendship Club will play Bingo on April 28 at 12:30 p.m. at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. Noon luncheon: meatloaf with gravy, mashed potato, brussels sprouts, and vanilla pudding. Call 525-5436 at least a day in advance for reservations.
SENIOR POOL LEAGUE
The Pleasant View Senior Center is looking to form a pool league beginning in June. Those who are interested may contact Sandy Grabierz at 525-5436.
COMMODITIES DISTRIBUTION
The next commodities distribution for those in need will be on May 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. Those who have received a ticket for 2011, please stop in the office before May 18 to complete the necessary paperwork. No commodities will be given without a ticket.
VETERANS COFFEE HOUR
Guest speakers from Chapter #55 of Disabled American Veterans will be at the next Veterans Coffee Hour at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. on May 17. They will also be available to assist participants with enrollment during the session. Meetings are open to veterans, spouse, widow(er) and dependent children and are on the third Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m.

"STREET OF DREAMS"
On May 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., youth will have the opportunity to explore and build a "Street of Dreams" at Wistariahurst Museum's Box City Architecture Youth Program in Holyoke. This program is for those age 8 to 18. Participants must bring a bag lunch. Reservations necessary by calling 322-5660. Cost: $9.
NATURE TOUR
Nature Tour with naturalist John Green will take place May 1 at 1:30 p.m. at the Keep Homestead Museum, 35 Ely Road, Monson. MOTHER'S DAY GIFT WRAPPING
Hospice Life Care is once again operating their gift wrapping booth at the Holyoke Mall for Mother's Day. The booth will be open from May 4 to 8. All funds raised are used to help Hospice patients and their families. The booth will be open during mall hours and will be located on the first floor directly in front of Sears.
LIBERTY AND ELLIS ISLAND TRIP

UNICO BLOOD DRIVE
The Longmeadow UNICO's outdoor blood drive will take place April 30 in the parking lot of the Longmeadow Shops from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be grilling food for those who donate blood and donors are also entered into a raffle to win two tickets to UNICO's annual Food and Wine Tasting at the Basketball Hall of Fame in October.
