EAST LONGMEADOW
ZITI & METBALL DINNER
The E.L. Firefighters Assoc. will host a ziti and meatball dinner on April 17 at St. Michael's Community Center, 53 Somers Rd., from 5 - 7:30 p.m. Adults, $8; children, $5. Cash for beer and wine. Tickets are available from any E.L. firefighter, at the E.L. Fire Dept. or at the door.
BOTTLE & CAN DRIVE
The United Methodist Youth group will be hosting a bottle and can drive on April 17 to support YOUTH 2011. Bag of empties will be collected at the church, 215 Somers Rd., from April 11 - 17.
SENIOR FRIENDSHIP CLUB
The E.L. Senior Friendship Club will be entertained by "Rockin' Robin, Dave Mindell" April 8 at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 N. Main St., following a noon luncheon of rosemary lemon chicken, mashed potato, carrots and chocolate pudding. Call 525-5436 for reservations.
BEGINNER ACRYLIC PAINTING
At the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 N. Main St., starting April 13 at 2 p.m. Emphasis will be on drawing, color mixing and shading. Cost is $80 for eight weeks (two hour classes; supplies extra.) Call 525-5436 to register.
BOOK CLUB
The Book Club meets the last Tues. of every month at 10:30 a.m. at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 N. Main St. The book for April is "Dark Tide" by Stephen Puleo. The Book Club is free and open to new members at any time.
BASEBALL THEME LUNCHEON
Join us at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 N. Main St., April 13 at 11:30 a.m. for a special luncheon, "Take me out to the Ball Game!" Ned Skinnon will display sports memorabilia, tell stories of his family baseball history, preview the upcoming season and predict the winners. FRIENDS OF LIBRARY ANNUAL MEETING

LAUGHING BROOK EVENT
Join Naturalist Kevin Kopchynski at Laughing Brook Wildlife Sanctuary to explore a vernal pool, looking for egg masses, amphibians, reptiles and invertebrates. The event is suitable for families with children ages 4 and up and will take place April 17 from 10 - 11:30 a.m. Fee is $3 for Mass Audubon members and $5 for non-members. Pre-registration required. HAMPDEN SENIORS TRIP
All are welcome to join us May 25 for a trip to the Berkshire Botanical Gardens and the Norman Rockwell Museum. The coach will leave the Hampden Senior Center, 104 Allen St., at 8:30 a.m. A new exhibit, "Behind the Camera," will be waiting for us at the museum. CITIZEN OF THE YEAR
The Select Board is now accepting nominations for its annual "Citizen of the Year" award. The recipient will be announced at the Annual Town Meeting on May 11. Letters of nomination should be sent to the Select Board, 20 Williams St., by April 20.
STORRS "CARING CONVERSATIONS"
On April 7 at 6:30 p.m., Jodi DiTusa, LICSW, Spectrum Social Worker will provide info on how to start those "difficult" conversations with loved ones and physicians to make informed decisions, discuss living wills, healthcare proxy and advanced directives in accordance with Mass. law. RED CROSS BABYSITTING
Ages 11 and up. Learn how to handle emergencies, entertain children and what activities are geared toward what stages of development in an infant or toddler. Learn what you need to know when you are staying home alone or watching younger siblings. Participants will learn about the basic care for children of all age levels, job responsibility, first aid procedures and activities to keep children busy, safe and happy. The course is hands on with a great deal of reading. Participants must attend all sessions to be eligible for certification. FALL SOCCER ASSOCIATION
This program will run from September through November. Kids in grades K - 8 are eligible. Practices meet at the discretion of the coach and usually weekdays or on Sat. Games are scheduled for Sun. MOMMY & ME LOOMING AT STORRS
On April 10 and April 17 from 10:30 a.m. - noon children in grades K-3 and their mothers are invited to participate in Mommy & Me Looming at Storrs Library. This is a fun knitting class where experience is not necessary. Register in advance for a $20 materials fee by calling the Philip Michael Lauro II Discovery Room at 565-4182. After learning the simple techniques of loom knitting, you'll design and create your own one of a kind hat.

BAY PATH ANTHROPLOGY LECTURE
On April 6, Bay Path professor of biology Gina Semprebon will discuss her involvement in the 17-year investigation of the 4.4 million-year-old hominid Ardipithecus ramidus, commonly known as Ardi, during her lecture "You Are What You Eat: How Ancient Food Preferences Reveal Patterns of Survival or Extinction." Mickey Mantle/Legion Baseball
The Parks & Rec. Dept. will be offering competitive baseball for boys ages 14 - 19 residing in Wilbraham, Hampden and/or boys attending WMA.
