NOTICE OF AGENDA DEADLINE
The deadline for submission of agenda items for the Sept. 8 meeting of the Board of Selectmen is Sept. 4 at noon. Agenda items may be submitted in writing care of the Board of Selectmen's Office, East Longmeadow Town Hall, 60 Center Square, East Longmeadow, MA 01028. Alumnus Association
The E.L. Alumnus Assoc. invites you to join us for our Annual Dinner Meeting on Oct. 4 at Elmcrest Country Club at 11:30 a.m. Anyone who attended schools or taught in East Longmeadow is welcome. We will be recognizing the 1959 class from Birchland Park on their 50th year and the High School class of 1969 for their 40th year. BASEBALL EVALUATIONS
Spring 2010 baseball evaluations are being hosted for E.L. Baseball Assoc/E.L. Rec. Dept.: grades 3-4 in town, Sept. 15; grades 3-4 travel, Sept. 17; grades 5-6 in town, Sept. 21; grades 5-6 travel, Sept. 24. All evaluations will take place at Heritage Park. Those who played spring 2009 grades 2-6 will be receiving a flyer in the mail. Stop by the Rec. Dept. for a detailed flyer that includes times.
WOMENS AEROBICS
The E.L. Rec. Dept. is currently registering for fall exercise classes. New, updated medical profiles will be required. Come into the Office Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. to register. Classes are as follows: Mon/Wed, 6 - 7 p.m., Sept. 9; Tue/Thur, 5 - 6 p.m. or 6 - 7 p.m., Sept. 15; Wed, 5 - 6 p.m., strength training, Sept. 9; and Thur, 7 - 8 p.m., yoga, Sept. 10.
ENDLESS BENEFITS
The E.L. Rec. Dept. introduces a new program for grades K-5 Mon. - Fri. from 2:30 - 5:30 p.m. starting Sept. 28 "Endless Benefits" at Pine Knoll. Program is designed on a weekly basis to include one creative program and one physical activity with leadership provided by adults from Inspire Works. Classes offered are: Simply Sculpting, Fitness Fun, Science Secrets 1, and Water Color Wizards. Homework help, board games and snack, too! Call the Rec. HOLIDAY CLOSING
The Pleasant View Senior Center will be closed on Sept. 7 in observance of Labor Day. No Meals on Wheels will be delivered.
CREATIVE WRITING COURSE
For all with an unfulfilled interest in writing as well as those who have been writing "forever," Adventures in Writing offers a relaxed, writer-friendly opportunity to experiment. Six-week session begins Sept. 10 and meets Thurs. from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 N. Main St. There is a fee. This is not an academic course, but a non-stressful way to develop, enliven and sharpen your style. Enrollment limited, early sign-up is recommended.
HISTORY OF BRASS INSTRUMENTS
David Neill and other musicians will give a performance at the Pleasant View Senior Center on Sept. 8 from 6 - 8 p.m. on the history of brass instruments. The players will give a history on certain instruments and then play a song on each. This event is free and open to the public.
BEADED BOOK MARKS W/ SANDY
Register early for this fun class scheduled for Sept. 10 at 9 a.m. at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 N. Main St. Cost is $5 for two book marks, either metal or cord, payable when you pre-register. You may make additional bookmarks during the class and pay for them in class.
MARLINS COMPETITIVE SWIM
The E.L. Rec. Dept. winter competitive swim program will begin Sept. 28 at ELHS at 6 p.m. Evening registrations will take place at ELHS outside pool entrance side of building next to tennis courts Sept. 2 - 3 from 6 - 7:30 p.m. For more info, call 525-5437.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL CAR WASH
The ELHS Girls Volleyball teams will host a car wash on Sept. 12 at the Congregational Church at the Rotary from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. We will appreciate your support.
QUILT FOR A CURE DAY
Quilts & Treasurers Inc. will be hosting a major fundraising event for breast cancer research. Our Quilt For A Cure Day will be Sept. 26. The day will include a fabric swap, a speaker, a silent auction of quilt related items, and a block auction of quilt squares. We are asking for support in this fundraiser by having individuals or companies donate an item for a door prize or providing 75 small items for their registration/goodie bags. All donors will be recognized that day and in publicity articles.

PIONEER VALLEY STAMP CLUB
The Pioneer Valley Stamp Club will meet on Sept. 8 and 22 at the First United Church of Christ on Route 5 (corner of Longmeadow and Williams Streets). The 17th annual Scantic Valley YMCA Community Golf Outing in memory of Brad Pinney will take place Sept. 11 at Hampden Country Club. ITALIAN LESSONS OFFERED

Hearing Screenings
On Sept.17, the Longmeadow Adult Center will host hearing screenings, by appt., from 9 a.m. - noon. This service is performed at no charge by Megan Allen Schneider, M.A., CCC-A, Certified/Licensed Audiologist of Audiology and Hearing Services of Longmeadow. LIVING WELL CHAT GROUP
Carolyn Brown, MD, Board Certified in Internal Medicine, will speak at the September Living Well Chat Group at the Longmeadow Adult Center on Sept. 18 from 10 - 11 a.m. Dr. Brown will present "Older Adults and Annual Physicals: What Should Be Happening?" FALL SIGN LANGUAGE PROGRAM
The Center for the Study and Use of Total Communication at the Willie Ross School for the Deaf announces its Fall 2009 Sign Language Program. The fall term will run Sept. 15 - Dec. 15. Classes at the Willie Ross School's Longmeadow campus are offered at beginner, advanced beginner, intermediate and advanced conversation levels in simultaneous voice and sign.
