AGAWAM
DEMOCRATIC COMMITTEE MEETING
The Agawam Democratic Committee will have its monthly meeting on Jan. 7 in the Community Room at the Agawam Library at 7 p.m. Topics for the meeting include charter review and planning for the National Day of Service on Jan. 19. All are welcome attend.
CULTURAL COUNCIL MEETING
The Agawam Cultural Council (ACC) is meeting on Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Agawam Public Library, 750 Cooper St. The meeting is open to the public. The ACC is charged with bringing entertaining and educational events in the arts, humanities and sciences to children and adults from Agawam and the surrounding communities.
BARGAIN BOOK
Friends of the Agawam Senior Center are selling the bargain book "Taste of Western Mass." for dining and activities for the Pioneer Valley. The books sell for $20 each and the proceeds go towards the Friends expansion fund. "LIVING AGAIN"
A support group to help those who have suffered the loss of a loved one, no matter when, will take place Jan. 13 at 1 p.m. at the Chicopee Council on Aging, 7 Valley View Ct. The group is facilitated by Irene Remillard. For more info call Jared at 534-3698 or Irene at 594-6092.
CHOLESTEROL TESTING
Keeping track of your cholesterol is important and to help you do this, on Jan. 14 from 9 a.m. - noon, there will be a cholesterol screening done at the Chicopee Senior Center, 7 Valley View Ct. The screening does not require fasting and will provide total cholesterol results. Individuals are taken on a first-come basis and a donation of $5 is appreciated. To register call 534-3698.
DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP
The next meeting will be on Jan. 12 at 1:30 p.m. at the Chicopee Senior Center, 7 Valley View Ct. Diane Weston, R.N. will provide info on ways to manage your diabetes, help you with your diet plan, provide instruction on the use of a glucometer, info on research and new developments and answer questions you may have. WOMAN'S CLUB MEETING
The Chicopee Falls Woman's Club will host its monthly meeting at 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 15 at American Legion Post 452 on Exchange Street. A "Fun in January" program is being planned. Members are asked to bring their own lunch. Remember to bring items for the veterans, non-perishable food for Lorraine's Soup Kitchen, aluminum tabs for the Shriners and Lipton's tea tags for the Senior Center.
YOUNG DEMOCRATS MEETING
A reorganizational meeting of the Chicopee Young Democrats will take place Jan. 17 from 2 - 3 p.m. in the main library conference room on Front Street. Free pizza will be served. This opportunity to get involved in your government is for CHS, CCHS, college students and all other adults ages 18 - 35.

WINTER YOGA CLASSES
The Chicopee Parks & Rec. Dept. is offering three eight-week yoga classes for newcomers or returnees. Gentle yoga classes (deep breathing and stretching) begins Jan. 7 and meets Wednesdays 7:15 - 8:30 p.m. Moderate/intermediate classes for the more experienced meet Monday evenings from 6 - 7:15 p.m. Beginning yoga also meets Mondays from 7:15 - 8:30 p.m. All classes meet at the new Chicopee Comp Fitness Center. RED SOX/NIAGARA FALLS WEEKEND
The Chicopee Parks & Rec. Dept. is sponsoring a three-day road trip to enjoy two Red Sox games in Toronto and Niagara Falls. CENSUS INFORMATION
Mailing for the Annual Town Census was at the end of December. To avoid any voting problems, mail back your census; compliance with this state requirement provides proof of residency, to protect voting rights, veteran's bonus, housing for the elderly and related benefits. Your cooperation with this mailing is greatly appreciated. The census does not register you as a voter or change your party affiliation. You must fill out a voter registration form or a change of enrollment card. Any questions or concerns can be directed to Kathy Kelly-Regan at the Granby Town Clerk's office at 467-7178.

SNOWSHOE TREK
On Jan. 11 from 1 - 4 p.m., enjoy a sneak peek Snowshoe Trek and Track at Little Tom Reservation in Holyoke. Traverse the hills and fields of Little Tom before this scenic reservation is open to the public. We will shoe if there is snow, or hike if there is not. The Boar's Head Festival
The Boar's Head Festival, a medieval celebration of the Epiphany, will be presented at Trinity United Methodist Church, 361 Sumner Ave., on Jan. 9 at 7:30 p.m.; Jan. 10 at 3:30 and 7:30 p.m.; and Jan. 11 at 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. Complete with period costumes, live animals and the glorious music of the Christmas season, the Boar's Head Festival celebrates the birth of Christ, the coming of the three kings and the triumph of light over darkness in our world. Seats are still available for several of the evening performances, so call the Boar's Head Festival ticket office at 733-4759 for info. City Councilor Jimmy Ferrera has invited Gil Peron from the Springfield Traffic Commission to discuss the traffic issues plaguing the Gen. Edwards' Bridge and surrounding residential streets. Ed Lambert, the director of UMass Dartmouth's Urban Initiative, will introduce the program that will try to transform Springfield's economy from manufacturing to knowledge-based industries.
