SHOP FOR A CAUSE
The Friends of the Agawam Senior Center will be hosting "Shop for a Cause" on Sept. 10 at 9 a.m. at Macy's. Make a $5 donation by buying a coupon and save 20 percent off regular sale and clearance items and 10 percent off furniture, mattresses and rugs. ICE CREAM SUNDAE NIGHT
All are invited to join us at St. David's on July 12 from 6 - 8:30 p.m. as we play in the yard and make our own ice cream sundae. This is a rain or shine event; if it rains we'll play inside.
JULY ART EXHIBIT
For the month of July, the Agawam Public Library will feature Agawam High School student art collages and also works done by Mischa Epstein Alvardo. This exhibit will on display on the Gallery walls on the main floor. This exhibit may be viewed during regular library hours.
FREE PASTEL INSTRUCTION CLASS
A free pastel instruction class with award-winning pastel painter Gregory Maichack will take place at the Agawam Public Library on July 11 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in the Community Room. This "da Vinci Mode" class for adults is for all interest and skill levels. All materials are included for this class, just bring a picture or photo with you. Space is limited to 24 participants. "50/50 DIET PLAN"
Adrienne Martin is giving a lecture on the "50/50 Diet Plan" at the Agawam Public Library on July 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room. This program will show the ways to easily and deliciously add more fruits and vegetables into your diet. This program includes food tasting of a green smoothie, veggie dip, veggie appetizer or entree and dessert. Registration is required by calling 789-1550 ext. 109 or visiting the library.
Come join the Chicopee Parks Dept. and Ely Associates to experience the Saratoga race course. Watch your races from the grandstand seats in one of the most historical horse racing towns in the U.S. Trip departs at 8:15 a.m. from the old Chicopee High and returns around 6:45 p.m. Trip date is July 26. USDA SUMMER FOOD PROGRAM
The Chicopee Parks & Rec. Dept. will participate in the USDA Summer Food Program for children at the Fairview Park, Britton St. Lunches will be provided through Aug. 15. No meals served on July 4. Meal times are 11:15 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. for lunch and 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. for snacks. Free meals are provided to attending children 18 and under without regard to race, color or national origin, sex, religion or handicap.
DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP
The next meeting will be on July 14 at 1:30 p.m. at the Chicopee Senior Center, 7 Valley View Ct. Diane Weston, R.N. will provide info on ways to manage your diabetes, help you with your diet plan, provide instruction on the use of a glucometer, info on research and new developments and answer questions you may have. ALZHEIMER'S SUPPORT GROUP
Providing care for a loved one with Alzheimer's is a 24-hour job. Taking time for yourself is important. Attending a support group can be rewarding, informational and beneficial in reducing stress. On July 16, Gerri Bennett, R.N. will provide info on Alzheimer's. Support is also provided to help you provide the best care for your loved one. The program will meet at the Chicopee Senior Center, 7 Valley View Ct. at 3:30 p.m. There is no cost for this program. If you would like further info or to register, call 534-3698.
Keeping track of your cholesterol is important and to help you do this, on July 16 from 9 a.m. - noon there will be a cholesterol screening done at the Chicopee Senior Center, 7 Valley View Ct. The screening does not require fasting and will provide total cholesterol results. Individuals are taken on a first-come basis and a donation of $5 is appreciated. to register call 534-3698.

SUMMER HOURS AT WISTARIAHURST
Wistariahurst Museum, 238 Cabot St., will be closed to the visiting public during the month of August to undergo a few renovations and house repairs. The garden and grounds are open for public viewing and self-guided garden brochures are available. The museum will resume regular tour hours Sat., Sun. and Mon. from noon - 4 p.m. in September. POULIOT SWIMMING POOL HOURS
Holyoke Parks & Rec. Dept. announces the Pouliot Pool, located at 575 Maple St., is now open. Senior Citizen Swim, 9 - 10:15 a.m. weekdays; open swim, 1 - 5 p.m.; and family swim, 5 - 6 p.m., weather permitting. Pouliot Pool is free and open to the public. OUTDOOR SUMMER CONCERT
The public is invited to attend an outdoor summer concert at Mount Saint Vincent Care Center. The "Cruisin' with the Crooners Show," with music by Dave Colucci, will feature the songs of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Perry Como. The concert is free and refreshments will be available at a minimal charge. Bring your own lawn chairs. The event will take place on July 9 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. at 35 Holy Family Rd. The Southwick Community Episcopal Church and the Church of the Atonement have teamed up to offer "Power Lab: Discovering Jesus' Miraculous Power" from July 21 - 24 from 9 a.m. - noon at the Church of the Atonement, 36 Court St., Westfield. There will be a special closing ceremony on Thursday evening. The program is free and open to of all ages. SOUTHWICK TOWN BEACH
The Southwick Town Beach, located on Beach Road is now open for the 2008 summer season. The beach is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Lifeguards will be on duty for those hours. An admission is charged. The concession stand will be open and will serve hot dogs, hamburgers, assorted sandwiches, ice cream, popcorn, candy and drinks. There will be special events during the summer. Save gas on summer travel and come join us at a clean and safe beach.

The sixth annual Frank J. Orszulak II 5K Run/Walker for Cancer is taking place July 12 at 9 a.m. at Cyr Arena, Forest Park. The Trafton Road entrance will be open for free entry to race participants. Pine Point Community Council
The monthly meeting of the Pine Point Community Council will be on July 8 at 7 p.m. at 335 Berkshire Ave. There will be a continuation of the discussion about the proposed business for 99 Arnold Ave. Also on the agenda is a proposed self-storage business for Boston Road to be located between Liberty Car Wash and Kappy's Liquor Store.
The July 3 fireworks extravaganza at Stanley Park will begin at 6 p.m. at the recreation field, with fireworks at 9:15 p.m. Stanley Park gates will be closed to vehicle traffic the entire day. All parking will be in Westfield State College parking lots. There will be no parking on the park grounds for this event except for handicap parking and those who have a preferred parking pass. Bring your lawn chair or blanket. Rain date for the fireworks will be July 6.
Stanley Park's Garden Workshop Series will feature Water Gardening with John Howell Jr., UMass Extension educator (retired) on July 12 from 10 a.m. - noon. This workshop will cover basic considerations in establishing a water garden. Styles of water features, construction techniques, materials and maintenance will be discussed.
