FOXWOODS TRIP

WOMEN'S FELLOWSHIP
Of the First Congregational Church will meet Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. Church historian Nancy Bortl will present many interesting facts about the church and other area churches. Brunch will be followed by a business meeting. Interested friends are welcome to attend.

MEALS ON WHEELS DRIVERS
The Pleasant View Senior Center has an urgent need for drivers, permanent and substitute, to deliver Meals on Wheels to housebound elders in East Longmeadow. Two hours one day a week is all that is required. Stipend is paid. Contact Sandy or Stephanie at 525-5436. Drivers will need to pass a background check.

MAKE YOUR OWN JEWELRY
Sandy Merrill will resume jewelry classes the first Monday of each month at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. at 9:30 a.m. Cost of instruction is $3 and supplies are extra.

ART CLASS FOR ADULTS
Local artist Jeff Kern is teaching basic drawing, design and basic techniques at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. Evening classes on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Morning classes on Fridays from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Cost is $15.

SENIOR FRIENDSHIP CLUB

FRENCH CLASS RESUMES
Conversational French at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. resumes Sept. 22 at 11 a.m.

ZUMBA CLASSES RESUME
Zumba classes take place at the Pleasant View Senior Center Mondays at 4 p.m. with certified instructor Donna Gendron. Classes will be four-week sessions at $4 per class.

CAPUANO CARE FREE SERVICE
Capuano Care will offer free blood pressure, glucose and total cholesterol screening on the first Friday of each month at 8 a.m., at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. The next date is Oct. 1.

SQUARE DANCE LESSONS
Square Dancing will resume at the Pleasant View Senior Center on Oct. 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. The first two lessons are free; the cost is $6 per lesson per person after two weeks.

ESTATE AND INVESTMENT PLANNING

ITALIAN NIGHT
Oct. 16 at St. Michael's Community Center, sponsored by the St. Michael's Knights of Columbus 9960. Cocktails at 6 p.m., five-course dinner at 7 p.m. includes antipasto, tortellini soup, pasta, Italian herbed chicken, roasted potatoes, green beans, and dessert. Entertainment by Bennie and the Jets the premier Elton John tribute band. Cost: $22/person; tables of eight can be reserved. All age groups for travel and in town programs. Evaluations in October; you must be registered to participate. PULASKI PARK CELEBRATION
On Oct. 10 at noon, there will be a ceremony at Pulaski Park, center of Easthampton, to commemorate Pulaski Day. Wreath laying ceremony and a prayer offered by Father Piotr Pawlus, Pastor of Our Lady of the Valley Parish. Mayor Michael Tautznik will also address the gathering. An honor guard from Easthampton American Legion riders Post 24 and the American Legion will take part in the ceremony.

BASIC PISTOL SAFETY
Basic pistol course will take place at Ludlow Fish and Game Club, Sportsman Road, Ludlow, on Oct. 13 and 16 at 6:30 p.m. The course is taught by licensed instructors and students completing the course are qualified to apply for a Class A license to carry. Active Singles hike Oct. 3 at Burr Pond in Torrington, Conn. Starts a 9:30 a.m.; arrive at 9 a.m. Take Route 8 North and get off at Exit 45. Left end of ramp and then first right onto Winsted Road, go two miles to first light and turn left on Burr Mountain Road. Entrance to park is a half-mile up on the left. Meet in rear parking lot. HYDRANT FLUSHING
The Longmeadow Department of Public Works (DPW) will be flushing water mains beginning Oct. 12. The work will last for approximately two weeks. Check your water before washing clothes or cooking. System flushing may affect water pressure or discolor water in the vicinity of operations. "THE CHILDREN OF THE GAMBIA"
Documentary on children attending school in The Gambia, West Africa, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. at Bay Path College in Mills Theatre, Carr Hall. Professor of communications and English John Jarvis, PhD, and three students spent the first two weeks of this year in The Gambia working on the Sajuka Community Development Project a partnership between Bay Path and the Sajuka Community School, the only school in a village of 8,000.
