AGAWAM -- Mayor Susan Dawson made her intentions known last week when she announced her bid for re-election before a crowd of over 75 people.
"Upon reflecting on my seven key issues that I listed facing Agawam [during my campaign] were: the parking ordinance which was repealed the day after I was elected; the municipal employees unsettled and non-negotiated contracts which have all been completed and agreed upon," she said.
"The safety of the children in the Agawam [Public] Schools has remained paramount, as well as [a] fully funded [proposed fiscal year 2010 budget]," Dawson continued. "The ability for small businesses to grow and thrive in Agawam which is evidenced by the number of new businesses in Agawam and my nickname, 'The Business Friendly Mayor'; the need for sidewalks which remains an infrastructure priority; [and] the Sewer [Extension Project] in Feeding Hills of which Phase I is underway."
She concluded her speech by offering optimism. "I look forward to the future of Agawam," Dawson said. "I believe that it is bright."
