EAST LONGMEADOW
SENIOR FRIENDSHIP CLUB
The E.L. Senior Friendship Club will have their annual Christmas Pageant on Dec. 20 at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. The Senior Chorus will also perform. Luncheon is Chicken Cordon Bleu, rice pilaf, broccoli and pudding for dessert. Cost is $3. Call 525-5436 at least one day in advance for noon lunch reservations.

SENIOR CENTER HOLIDAY CLOSINGS
The Senior Center will be closed on Dec. 25 and 26, and Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 in observance of Christmas and New Year's Day. We will be delivering Meals on Wheels on Christmas Day to those who have requested a meal. There will be no Meals on Wheels delivered on the other days we are closed.

BASEBALL TICKETS
The E.L. Men's Softball League/E.L. Rec. Dept. has tentatively scheduled four Major League Baseball Bus Trips for 2008 55 tickets per bus. Stop in at the Rec. WINTER CHEERLEADING
The E.L. Rec. Dept. still has openings in its Winter Cheerleading program (residents only) to begin Jan. 3 for 12 weeks on T/Thr from 6 - 7:30 p.m. Those presently in grades 2 - 7 are eligible (Fall Cheer. Squads, too). Come into the Rec. Dept., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., Mon. - Fri. to register.

GREATER SPRINGFIELD

TRANSFER STATION HOLIDAY HOURS
The Hampden Transfer Station will be open Dec. 26, 1 - 4 p.m. and will be closed Jan. 1. It will re-open on Jan. 5.

LONGMEADOW
LHS JAZZ CONCERT
The Longmeadow Adult Center is honored to host a concert presented by selected members of the talented Longmeadow High School Jazz Band on Feb. 5 at 1:30 p.m. at 231 Maple Rd. Improvisation will be emphasized, which is what our Journey to Jazz group, conducted by Saul Finestone, has been discussing. We invite all to join us.

MOTHER & DAUGHTER BOOK GROUP TO MEET AT STORRS LIBRARY
The Philip Michael Lauro II Discovery Room at the Storrs Library will host a Mother & Daughter Book Group on Jan. 8 from 6:30 - 7:45 p.m. This discussion group is open to students in grades 6 - 8 and will meet monthly. Our new selection is called "Does My Head Look Big In This?" by Randa Abdel-Fattah. Mothers and daughters are invited to pick up a copy of the novel in the Discovery Room and join us for great conversation and lively discussion as we find out what's behind Amal's story. LITTLE LEAGUE BOARD MEETING
The Longmeadow Little League Board Meeting will be held Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. in the Community House Auditorium.

HOUSING AUTHORITY MEETING
The Longmeadow Housing Authority will meet on Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. in the Fire Station meeting room.

FREE ICE SKATING
The Longmeadow Board of Park Commissioners and the Parks & Rec. Dept. announce free public skating at the Blinn tennis courts beginning soon, weather permitting. WINTER & EARLY SPRING BROCHURE
The new winter and early spring edition of "Experiences," Longmeadow Parks & Rec. Dept.'s program brochure, will be available at the Community House, beginning Dec. 21. Longmeadow Schools will be distributing the brochure to students to bring home. Get a jump on your favorite programs: online registration for most programs begins Dec. 21. Remember to check the paper weekly, for additional offerings not included in the brochure.

GREENWOOD CHILDRENS CENTER
Please be advised that Greenwood Children's Center will be closed on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31.

DISCOUNTED TICKETS TO FALCONS HOCKEY GAMES
The Longmeadow Parks & Rec. Dept. is pleased to announce discounted $11 vouchers for all ages for Springfield Falcons games during the 2007-08 season. Vouchers are good for any home game. $1 from each voucher sold will come back to the Longmeadow Parks & Rec. Dept. TEEN CENTER
Youths in grades 6 - 8 and their guests are welcome to come and enjoy a supervised evening out on Fridays from 7 - 10 p.m. at the Greenwood Center. Admission is $7 per person. School dress codes are strictly followed. Teen Center is run and staffed by area college students. Parent information packets are available on site at each teen center event. Please call Crissy Alexopoulos at 565-4163 with any questions. Teen center dates are Jan. 4, 18, Feb. 1, 29, March 14, 28, April 11, May 2, 16 and June 6.

KARATE SHOTOKAN STYLE
Ages 16 and up. Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation (SKIF) system includes an international standardized syllabus of kihon (basics), kata (forms) and kumite (sparring). A white karate uniform is required for class and can be ordered through the instructor. Class is ongoing every two months for adults, but sign ups are welcome anytime. TAI CHI
Tai Chi is a classical Chinese martial art that includes a series of slow, gentle and graceful movements and postures. Emphasis is placed on movement, meditation and breathing techniques to promote peacefulness while achieving physical and mental wellbeing. Wear comfortable clothing, a flat sole indoor sneaker, dance shoe, or bare foot. Class is ongoing every two months for adults, but sign ups are welcome anytime. GREENWOOD PRESCHOOL SPOTS AVAILABLE NOW
The Greenwood Children's Center on Maple Rd. is currently accepting enrollment in their preschool program. Choose full or part time care for your three year old in our EEC Licensed, loving, nurturing program. The Center is open 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. weekdays, to meet your child care needs and boasts integrated themes and Kindergarten readiness skills for your rapidly developing youngster. BOARD OF ASSESSORS MEETING
The Board of Assessors will meet on Jan. 15 at 8:30 a.m. in the Police Station Community Room. Public comments will only be heard between 8:30 - 8:45 a.m.

SPRINGFIELD
CHRISTMAS MASS SCHEDULES
It's that time of year for the greatest of questions, "What time is midnight Mass?" Once again this year in order to help people get accurate Mass times for Christmas as well as other Advent and Christmas events, the diocese of Springfield has created a special webpage with all this information at www.diospringfield.org. The list is accessible directly from the homepage and lists Masses and other events for parishes across western Massachusetts.

GRANT APPLICATIONS
Pre-application forms are now available from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield's Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) office for the 2008-09 grant year. Individual agency grants range from $2,500 to $10,000 and are awarded in June. Each year CCHD funds local agencies whose projects are designed to effectively combat the root causes of poverty through community organizing and economic development. This past year, grants were awarded to Homework House of Hermano Pedro in Holyoke and the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts Target Hunger: Springfield Project. Pre-applications and funding criteria are available by contacting Kathryn Buckley-Brawner at 452-0814; or at k.b rawner@diospringfield.org. Completed applications must be postmarked by Jan. 15 and addressed to the Office of Peace and Justice, Catholic Charities Agency, 254 Bridge St., Springfield 01103, Attn: CCHD.

PASTA DINNER
St. Anthony's Church Women's Guild will hold its monthly pasta dinner on Jan. 2 from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Cedar Hall at 375 Island Pond Rd. Menu will include home made sauce, meat balls, salad, bread, pastries, coffee and tea. Cost is $5 for adults, children under six are free. Take out is available. FOXWOODS CASINO & BINGO TRIP

WILBRAHAM
CHORAL GROUP
On Dec. 20 at 2:30 p.m. the members of the Wilbraham Women's Club Choral Group will give their final performance of the season for the residents of Life Care of Wilbraham on 2399 Boston Rd. The group is under the direction of Ruth Carlson and accompanied by Joyce Muldrew on piano.

MONDAY DANCE PROGRAM
It is that time of year again for area dancers to register for the spring session of the Monday Mary Ann Dance Program. The Wilbraham Parks & Rec. Dept. is pleased to have been offering jazz, hip-hop, ballet and tap classes with the studio for 19 years. Specific classes are held in the Wilbraham Middle School Auditorium for ages two through teens. The spring session will run Jan. 7 - May with a recital. Cost for the session is $65 for residents, $75 for out-of-towners. If you would like to participate in the May Recital, there will be an additional costume fee. Registration is now being accepted at the WPR office or download the form from the WPR Web site and mail it in with proper payment.
