"BREAD AND TULIPS" The Agawam Cultural Council continues its spring foreign film festival with the showing of "Bread and Tulips" at Agawam Family Cinemas, 866 Suffield St., on May 4 at 1:15 p.m. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $6 per person, including complimentary hors d'oeuvres, desserts and free drawing before the movie.
POT ROAST DINNER St. David's Episcopal Church, 699 Springfield St., will be having a pot roast dinner on May 5 at 6 p.m. Menu: pot roast, oven roasted red potatoes, mixed vegetables with cheese sauce, garden salad, bread and butter, hot fudge sundaes, coffee, tea or lemonade. CHICOPEE ROSARY SERVICE The Fairview K of C #4044, 1599 Memorial Drive, will host its semi-annual Candlelight Living Rosary Service on May 7 at 7 p.m. in their banquet facility, led by Council Chaplain Rev Roland J. Galipeau. This short but meaningful ceremony honors Mary, the Mother of God, during the month of May. This ceremony features a live music program and light refreshments will be served at the end of the service. All are welcome.
"TURNING 65 AND MEDICARE" Jim Zabik from Bankers Life and Casualty is presenting a seminar in the Conference Room of the Chicopee Public Library at 6 p.m. on May 5. BENEFIT CAR WASH On May 17 and 31, from 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at Brad's Service Station, 817 Front St., a benefit car wash for $4 per car will take place to raise funds for cystic fibrosis. Please help us find a cure.

IN GOOD COMPANY In Good Company is a support group that can help people who are feeling blue or experiencing mild depression. Coming to a support group at the Senior Center and being with others can help you to feel better. The In Good Company support group meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 10 a.m. There is no fee for this program. ANNUAL SHAREHOLDERS MEETING The Chicope Falls Tiger A.C. will host their annual shareholders meeting April 27 at noon at the Tiger A.C. on 14 Montgomery St. All shareholders are invited to attend this meeting.
FRANCO-AMERICAN FOLK SINGER Josee Vachon will perform a concert on June 14 at 7 p.m. at St. George Parish Hall, 33 Maple St. Born in Quebec and raised in Maine, Vachon shares her Franco-American culture through traditional and contemporary folk songs from Quebec and Acadie as well as original songs. TENNIS LESSONS Chicopee Parks and Rec. Dept. will be offering tennis lessons for children ages eight and up; adult lessons will also be offered. Classes are for beginners, intermediate and advanced players who want to fine tune their game. Classes will take place at the Szot Park Tennis Courts on Monday and Wednesday afternoons at 3, 4 and 5 p.m. Times can be arranged with the instructor. There will be four four-week sessions. Each session consists of eight classes twice a week for a one-hour period. Signups are now being taken at the Parks Dept. office. GRANBY GRANBY LANDFILL The Granby Landfill will be open April 27 and June 22 for spring cleanup from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. Only the front of the landfill with the roll-off station will be open to residents with a valid landfill sticker. For more info, contact the Board of Health at 467-7174.
GREATER SPRINGFIELD Asperger's Assc. of New England The Western Mass. chapter of the Asperger's Association of New England (AANE) is sponsoring the second annual Matthew Dandurand Memorial Workshop on May 3 at Holyoke Community College. This year's featured speaker is Jennifer McIlwee Myers, an adult with Asperger's Syndrome, who will present two workshops. The morning talk will be "Connecting to Humans: Friendships, Dating, and Relationships with AS," and in the afternoon, "Use Your Brain to Cope with Anxiety and Anger" will be discussed. MOTHER'S DAY SPRING CRAFT FAIR The Hampshire Regional High School, 19 Stage Rd. in Westhampton, is hosting a Mother's Day Spring Craft Fair on May 3 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. The Booster Club will be offering a food table. PITCH, HIT & RUN COMPETITION Holyoke Parks & Rec. Dept. will be hosting a free local competition of the MLB Pitch, Hit & Run on May 4 at McKenzie Stadium from 2 - 6 p.m. Boys and girls will compete in four age groups: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12 and 13/14. The skills contest consists of throwing pitches at a strike zone target, hitting from a tee for distance and baserunning for time. Age group winners will advance to sectionals with a chance to move on to the National Final at the All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium. Pre-registration is recommended. SPRING WILDFLOWERS Late April is an excellent time to observe some of the spring wildflowers, the so-called "spring ephemerals" which mostly bloom before the trees leaf out fully, thereby taking advantage of more available light. This will be a casual walk, suitable for all ages and abilities, and will visit several "hot spots" in the sanctuary where some species will be seen that are not very common in the region. This nature workshop will begin at 2 p.m. All walks and workshops will meet at the entrance sign to the Frank Stanley Beveridge Sanctuary and will cancel if there is heavy rain. SALMON STOCKING VOLUNTEERS The Westfield River Watershed Association needs volunteers to help stock salmon fry in Westfield River tributaries on April 26. The stocking is part of the effort to restore Atlantic Salmon to the river. It takes about four hours and can be fun for the whole family. Bring water, a light lunch and river boots or waders if you have them. Meet at 8 a.m. at Gateway Regional High School in Huntington. WEST SPRINGFIELD LITTER CLEAN UP "Can The Litter, Keep Merrick Clean Day" is April 26. Many volunteers are needed to pick up litter thoughout Merrick. Volunteers are encouraged to come to the Corson Park on Main Street at 9 a.m. to register, have snacks and get street assignments. Lunch will be served from noon - 1 p.m. back in the park. The Community Police will also be joining us in cleaning up the neighborhood.
