"BREAD AND TULIPS" The Agawam Cultural Council continues its spring foreign film festival with the showing of "Bread and Tulips" at Agawam Family Cinemas, 866 Suffield St., on May 4 at 1:15 p.m. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $6 per person, including complimentary hors d'oeuvres, desserts and free drawing before the movie.
POT ROAST DINNER St. David's Episcopal Church, 699 Springfield St., will be having a pot roast dinner on May 5 at 6 p.m. Menu: pot roast, oven roasted red potatoes, mixed vegetables with cheese sauce, garden salad, bread and butter, hot fudge sundaes, coffee, tea or lemonade. Tickets are $9 for adults, $4 for children ages five - 12 and free for children under five. Tickets can be reserved by calling the church office at 786-6133.
ROSARY SERVICE The Fairview K of C #4044, 1599 Memorial Drive, will host its semi-annual Candlelight Living Rosary Service on May 7 at 7 p.m. in their banquet facility, led by Council Chaplain Rev Roland J. Galipeau. This short but meaningful ceremony honors Mary, the Mother of God, during the month of May. This ceremony features a live music program and light refreshments will be served at the end of the service. All are welcome.

ROAST BEEF SUPPER The First Baptist Church will host a roast beef supper on April 26 at 5:30 p.m. The dinner will include salad, sliced roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, rolls and butter, dessert and beverage. $9 for adults, $4 for children ages five - 12 and free for children under five. CHICOPEE "TURNING 65 AND MEDICARE" Jim Zabik from Bankers Life and Casualty is presenting a seminar in the Conference Room of the Chicopee Public Library at 6 p.m. on May 5. BENEFIT CAR WASH On May 17 and 31, from 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at Brad's Service Station, 817 Front St., a benefit car wash for $4 per car will take place to raise funds for cystic fibrosis. Please help us find a cure.

WRITING GROUP A group of friendly people gather informally in the Chicopee Senior Center, 7 Valley View Ct., on the first and third Friday of each month at 1 p.m. Bring paper, a pen or pencil, and a desire to share your ideas, imagination, life experiences or dreams. EVENING CONCERT The Chicopee Council on Aging is sponsoring an evening concert at the Center with a performance by Dave Mindell on May 1 at 6 p.m. Join us for a fun evening as Dave brings the best of the 50s, 60s and 70s with songs of Elvis, Bobby Darin, Sinatra, the Beatles and more. CRUISE ABOARD THE MAJESTIC Join the Chicope Senior Travel Club aboard the Majestic on Aug. 8. We will cruise the waters of Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay on this award-winning yacht. IN GOOD COMPANY In Good Company is a support group that can help people who are feeling blue or experiencing mild depression. Coming to a support group at the Senior Center and being with others can help you to feel better. The In Good Company support group meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 10 a.m. There is no fee for this program. The group is facilitation by a professional who can assist you with coping strategies, information on additional assistance and support. For more info, call 534-3698.
ANNUAL SHAREHOLDERS MEETING The Chicope Falls Tiger A.C. will host their annual shareholders meeting April 27 at noon at the Tiger A.C. on 14 Montgomery St. All shareholders are invited to attend this meeting.
FRANCO-AMERICAN FOLK SINGER Josee Vachon will perform a concert on June 14 at 7 p.m. at St. George Parish Hall, 33 Maple St. Born in Quebec and raised in Maine, Vachon shares her Franco-American culture through traditional and contemporary folk songs from Quebec and Acadie as well as original songs. Her warm, distinct voice accompanied by the guitar and occasional piano, unrelenting foot percussion and spoons, as well as her engaging personality have captured the hearts of many audiences for over 25 years. CABARET 2008 St. George Parish Hall, 33 Maple St., will be the setting for Cabaret 2008. The show, May 3 at 7 p.m., consists of music, comedy and dance by parishioners and local talent. TENNIS LESSONS Chicopee Parks and Rec. Dept. will be offering tennis lessons for children ages eight and up; adult lessons will also be offered. Classes are for beginners, intermediate and advanced players who want to fine tune their game. Classes will take place at the Szot Park Tennis Courts on Monday and Wednesday afternoons at 3, 4 and 5 p.m. Times can be arranged with the instructor. There will be four four-week sessions. Each session consists of eight classes twice a week for a one-hour period. Signups are now being taken at the Parks Dept. office. GRANBY GRANBY LANDFILL The Granby Landfill will be open April 27 and June 22 for spring cleanup from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. Only the front of the landfill with the roll-off station will be open to residents with a valid landfill sticker. For more info, contact the Board of Health at 467-7174.
GREATER SPRINGFIELD DONATE A CAR Boys and Girls Clubs are joining together throughout Massachusetts to raise funds for their programs by seeking donated cars. Now that the price of scrap metal is at a high level, the clubs can accept most any car. The cars are sold at auction. SWINGLES SQUARE DANCE CLUB Mainstream dance on May 2 (May Basket Nite). May 16 "Ice Cream Social" mainstream dance. Dances take place at the Knights of Columbus on Park Street in West Springfield from 8 - 10:30 p.m. with early rounds from 7:30 - 8 p.m. and are $6 per person. O'NEIL AT ROTARY LUNCHEON The Springfield Rotary Club announced that retired Springfield Police Officer, foster care survivor and author Alexander O'Neil will be the Springfield Rotary Club's luncheon speaker on May 2. O'Neil will speak about his abusive foster care experience and his book "Is There any Love Down Back? The Four Boys," published in 2005. WEST SPRINGFIELD WEST SIDE HELPING HANDS DAY The ninth annual West Side Helping Hands Day is May 3. Volunteers are needed to clean yards of 11 homeowners who are unable to do it themselves and a group will repair two town gazebos. Volunteers should meet at Mittineague United Methodist Church, 800 Amostown Rd. at 8 a.m. Breakfast and lunch, water, snacks, biodegradable bags and string are provided.
