TAIZE PRAYER
Taize Prayer at St. Michael's Church will take place April 6 at 7 p.m. Taize is prayer which, through repetitive musical phrases, calms our mind and body as well as our spirit, decreases stress and increases God's spirit of peace and relaxation in us. All are welcome.

BAKE SALE
An Election Day bake sale sponsored by the Birchland Park Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) will take place April 12, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Birchland Park Middle School. Stop by the PTO table for a cup of coffee, donuts, danish, breads, cookies, brownies and more.

ASHE'S OFFICE HOURS

CASH FOR GOLD FUND-RAISER

LIONS CLUB FUND-RAISER
The East Longmeadow Lions Club presents its first "Harpoon Beer Tasting Dinner" on April 9 at Elmcrest Country Club, 105 Somersville Road. German food will be featured. BOOK CLUB MEETING
The Book Club meets at 10:30 a.m. on the last Tuesday of the month at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. The book selection for April 26th is "The Postmistress" by Sarah Blake. New members always welcome.

COMMUNITY SHRED DAY
Premier Source Credit Union, 232 North Main St., will host a Community Shred Day on April 9 from 9 a.m. to noon. Non-perishable food item donations are requested, which will go to the East Longmeadow Open Pantry.

BOOK AND BAKE SALE
The Friends of East Longmeadow Public Library's, 60 Center Square, annual book and bake sale is April 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Members of the group can shop the preview sale on April 8 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. A bake sale will benefit the Children's department. GREATER SPRINGFIELD
COIN CLUB
The West Springfield Coin Club will meet on April 10 at 7 p.m. in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 214 Elm St. in West Springfield. A presentation and discussion will include facts about $20 gold Double Eagles. A small auction will take place and refreshments will be available. Guests are always welcome. ACTIVE SINGLES
Active Singles, a non-profit group, is sponsoring a Colorado National Parks trip from July 28 to Aug. 6. This trip is open to all singles (no kids). The main age group that attends is 30s to 60s. FIRST TUESDAY DINNER
The American Legion Auxiliary, Charles C. Kennedy, Unit #275, 41 Robbins Road, Chicopee, will host its First Tuesday Dinner on April 5. "REDWOOD AND WILDFIRE"

FIVE ALARM STORYTIME
On April 16, Five Alarm Storytime will take place at Hampden Public Library, 625 Main St., at 11 a.m. for ages 3 to 9. Special guest, Hampden Fire Chief Mike Gorski, will read "No Tea for Dragons: Fire Safety for Kids" by Jean Pendziwol. Participants will see an actual fire engine and ask questions. EASTER PICNIC DINNER

The Longmeadow Adult Center will host an Artists Studio April 19 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Bring supplies and enjoy a creative afternoon in our sunny dining room with other artists. No charge.

SELLING STUFF ON eBAY
The Longmeadow Adult Center will host Tom Johnson for his demonstration on how to sell things on eBay on April 19 and May 17 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Cost: $6 for the two classes.

TOYS OF YESTERYEAR
The Longmeadow Adult Center will host Toys of Yesteryear April 20 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Grace Durgin, who brought us those wonderful household gadgets, returns with toys from the 1920s and '30s. It's a chance to reminisce about play before there were electronic devices. People of all ages will enjoy this presentation. No charge.

COMPUTER COACHING
The Longmeadow Adult Center will host a free one-on-one help for those with computer problems on April 20 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. This program is available every Wednesday. Call 565-4150 to make an appointment.

MOVIE AFTERNOON
The Longmeadow Adult Center will host a Movie Afternoon, showing "Morning Glory" starring Harrison Ford, Diane Keaton and Rachael McAdams on April 21 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Free.

TABLE TENNIS
Players are wanted to keep both tables busy on every Thursday afternoon (except the first week of the month) beginning April 21, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Longmeadow Adult Center. Players at any level are welcome. No charge.

SCRABBLE
Join a friendly Scrabble game each month at the Longmeadow Adult Center, beginning April 22 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. There's room and supplies for many more players.

BRIDGE LESSONS
The Longmeadow Adult Center will host bridge lessons on April 22 at 10 a.m. John Sedgewick offers free bridge lessons every Friday morning.

TANGLEWOOD TRIP
The Longmeadow Adult Center will sponsor a trip to Tanglewood on July 17 from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Champagne brunch at the Jewish Community Center, then off to to Tanglewood for a tribute to Cole Porter. Cost: $95 or $85 for Longmeadow residents and JCC members. For reservations, call 565-4150.

FINDING RELIABLE HEALTH INFO
Margot Malachowski, outreach librarian at Baystate Health will be the presenter at Storrs Library, 693 Longmeadow St., on April 11 at 6:30 p.m. She'll provide training for the general public on where to find reliable online health information. WASTE CENTER OPERATION
The Longmeadow Recycling and Yard Waste Center is now operating on its summer hours: Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. An annual 2011 recycling sticker is required in order to use the center for your yard waste, bulk item disposal or access to the Swap Shack. EXCHANGE CLUB LUNCHEON

FREE MAGIC SHOW
Eastfield Mall will be hosting a free magic show featuring Ed Popielarczyk for children 12 and younger on April 16 at 11 a.m. Photos with the Easter Bunny are also available in the Food Court April 9 through April 23.
