CRAFTERS WANTED
The First Congregational Church at the rotary in East Longmeadow is now in the final stages of accepting applications to their Christmas Collection Craft Fair. This year the fair will take place on Nov. 1 from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. With over 700 in attendance last year, crafters can be assured that their products will receive maximum exposure. CAR WASH
The E.L. Rec. Dept. announces a car wash for our youth field hockey program will take place on Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Rec. Dept., 328 N. Main St. Come help support the teams! Rain date is Sept. 13.
FIELD HOCKEY CLINIC FOR PARENTS
The E.L. Rec. Dept.'s youth field hockey program will conduct a clinic for any parent interested in learning more about field hockey or possibly coaching in the program. FRIENDSHIP CLUB SUMMER REUNION
The Friendship Club will have a summer reunion luncheon and play BINGO at Pleasant View Senior Center at 328 North Main St. on Aug. 21 at noon. The menu is shepherd's pie, green beans and pudding. Call to make a reservation at least 24 hours in advance at 525-5436.
COMMODITIES DISTRIBUTION
Commodities will be distributed on Aug. 20 from 1 - 3 p.m. at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. To qualify, you must be an East Longmeadow resident of any age, and you must demonstrate need by showing documentation of your participation in any of the following programs: Welfare, AFDC, Food Stamps, Fuel Assistance, WIC, SSI, Medicaid, Veteran's Aid, Head Start, or sign a statement showing your Gross Yearly Income falls at or below certain amounts. You must sign up at the Senior Center and will be given a ticket which you will keep for the year. No commodities will be given without a ticket.
QUILTING COMES TO PLEASANT VIEW
The Quilting Club will resume beginning Sept. 5 at the Pleasant View Senior Center. The group meets from 1 - 3 p.m. and encourages new members to join. Bring a project you have started or begin one with them, the first project being a table runner.

FINE ARTS SHOW
The 6th Annual Fine Art Show sponsored by Tobacco Valley Artists Assoc. still has space available for artists wishing to exhibit their artwork for display or sale. BUILDING BUDDIES
On Sept. 13 from 11 - 11:45 a.m. kids in kindergarten to second grade are invited to Building Buddies, a special interactive book group, at the Storrs Library. The program consists of a story and discussion, a snack and a Lego activity. Children will design, build, and display a Lego structure relating to the book that is read. Problem solving and creativity will be in play as the Building Buddies book group enjoys this 45-minute get together. The State Primary will take place Sept. 16 at the Community House, 7 a.m. - 8 p.m. The last day to register to vote or change party affiliation is Aug. 27. ANNUAL OKTOBERFEST
Sacred Heart Church on Chestnut Street in Springfield will be hosting its annual Oktoberfest on Sept. 28 from 11 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in the parking lot behind the church. This year's festival will again feature German music with the Black Sheep German Band performing throughout the day. There will be children's games, teenage activities, an apple pie baking contest, bingo, Chinese and grocery wheel raffles as well as a grand raffle that has 12 winners with prizes that range from $100 to $1,000. There will be the popular cash raffle with the grand prize of $20,000 with only 500 tickets to be sold. American and German food and drink will b e available. ANNUAL PROCESSION
The Our Lady of Grace Society of Springfield will be hosting its Third Annual Procession at the Mt. Carmel Church grounds on William Street in Springfield on Sept. 7 beginning at 11:30 a.m. An Italian style marching band will lead a procession around the church grounds. The statue of Our Lady of Grace will be carried by the members of the society during the procession in the manner customarily observed in Italy. A Mass in the church will be offered at 1 p.m. followed by food, refreshments and Italian music by DJ Rocco. All are welcome.
