EAST LONGMEADOW
SENIOR FRIENDSHIP CLUB
The E.L. Senior Friendship Club will get ready to ring in the New Year on Dec. 27 when they play Auld Lang Syne BINGO at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. Luncheon is fresh vegetable appetizers, baked chicken, roasted potatoes, California blend vegetables and Jello. DESIGN YOUR OWN JEWELRY
Sandy Merrill's popular jewelry class will be held Jan. 7 from 9:30 - 11 a.m. at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. Cost for class instruction is $2, supplies are extra. Class size limited to 20, pre-registration strongly suggested. Call 525-5436 or come in to sign up.

GREATER SPRINGFIELD
SEMINAR
A free seminar on the use of its research library will be offered by the French-Canadian Genealogical Society of Connecticut at 6:30 p.m., Jan. 7, in Tolland. The seminar, open to all, will be in the society's library in the Old County Courthouse, 53 Tolland Green (Route 195), half a mile north of Exit 68 on I-84. Pre-registration is not necessary. CARS FOR BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS
It's not too late to donate your car for your upcoming tax deduction, so if you wish to take advantage of the few days remaining, just call the Boys and Girls Club Car Campaign at 800-246-0493. Cars will be sold at auction and the proceeds will be used to help the local clubs. The 800 number can be called any any time. No restrictions.

COLLECTION HIGHLIGHTS HISTORY
Have you checked out the new Longmeadow Historic Resource Center collection at the Storrs Library? The collection is the result of a joint effort by the Longmeadow Historic District Commission, Longmeadow Historical Commission and the Longmeadow Historic Society. These community organizations worked together to contribute a core collection of materials related to local history, architecture and historic preservation to highlight history in our community. You can this wonderful collection Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

CONVERSATIONAL ITALIAN
The Longmeadow Center is offering a new eight-week series of classes with Stephanie Foster, our enthusiastic and well-experienced instructor, who makes it an enjoyable learning experience. Classes are on Tuesdays, Jan. 8 - Feb. 26 with beginners meeting at 10:30 a.m. and intermediates at noon. Call 565-4150.

CALLIGRAPHY REFRESHER COURSE
Jamie Risley-Hall is offering a four week refresher class of two hours each at the Longmeadow Center for those who have done Calligraphy before. FREE ICE SKATING
The Longmeadow Board of Park Commissioners and the Parks & Rec. Dept. announce free public skating at the Blinn tennis courts beginning soon, weather permitting. WINTER & EARLY SPRING BROCHURE
The new winter and early spring edition of "Experiences," Longmeadow Parks & Rec. Dept.'s program brochure, will be available at the Community House beginning Dec. 21. Longmeadow Schools will be distributing the brochure to students to bring home to you. Get a jump on your favorite programs: online registration for most programs began Dec. 21. Remember to check the paper weekly for additional offerings not included in the brochure.

FIRST KICKS
Do you have a three to four year old with plenty of energy to spare? This program can harness that energy in this martial arts movement class for preschoolers. SMALL SAMURAI
Ages 4 - 5. Children in this program learn respect, discipline and confidence in an environment that is fun, active and exciting. DISCOUNTED TICKETS TO FALCONS HOCKEY GAMES
The Longmeadow Parks & Rec. Dept. is pleased to announce discounted $11 vouchers for all ages for Springfield Falcons games during the 2007-08 season. Vouchers are good for any home game. $1 from each voucher sold will come back to the Longmeadow Parks & Rec. Dept. KARATE - SHOTOKAN STYLE
Ages 16 and up. Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation (SKIF) system includes an international standardized syllabus of kihon (basics), kata (forms) and kumite (sparring). A white karate uniform is required for class and can be ordered through the instructor. Class is ongoing every two months for adults, but sign ups are welcome anytime. TAI CHI
Tai Chi is a classical Chinese martial art that includes a series of slow, gentle and graceful movements and postures. Emphasis is placed on movement, meditation and breathing techniques to promote peacefulness while achieving physical and mental wellbeing. GREENWOOD PRESCHOOL SPOTS AVAILABLE NOW
The Greenwood Children's Center on Maple Road is currently accepting enrollment in their preschool program. Choose full or part time care for your three year old in our EEC Licensed, loving, nurturing program. The Center is open 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. weekdays to meet your child care needs and boasts integrated themes and kindergarten readiness skills for your rapidly developing youngster. SPRINGFIELD
HOME MODIFICATIONS LOANS
Loans (some with deferred payments) of up to $30,000 are available to make access modifications for individuals with disabilities. Homeowners can apply to HAP, the Region's Housing Partnership, for funds to construct ramps or make modifications to their bathrooms, kitchens or other rooms to allow people to safely remain in their homes. These funds are available to homeowners in Springfield, Agawam, West Springfield, Chicopee, Holyoke, Northampton and Westfield. Call HAP at 233-1612 for more info.

CHRISTMAS SEASON EVENTS
St. Peter's Episcopal Church, located at 45 Buckingham St., will celebrate the Christmas season with the following events: Dec. 24 - Christmas Mass, 5 p.m.; Dec. 24 - Christmas Vigil and carols, 10 p.m.; Dec. 25 - Christmas day service, 9 a.m.; Dec. 31 - New Year's Vigil, 10 p.m.; Jan. 1 - New Year's Day service, 9 a.m.; Jan. 6 - Visitors' Sunday, 8 and 10 a.m. The public is invited to attend all services and events. BOAT MASSACHUSETTS
Massachusetts Boating Basics Course at Lake Lorraine, 18 Lake Dr., Jan. 7, 14, 21 and 30 (all four classes required), 6:30 - 9 p.m. Pre-registration is required with MA Environmental Police, 508-759-0002. The primary purpose of Boat Massachusetts is to foster safe boat operation through increased awareness of required safety equipment, safe boating practices and legal responsibilities. Boat Massachusetts is offered to the public at no charge. Youths 12 - 15 years of age who successfully complete the course will be issued a Safety Certificate allowing them to operate a motorboat without adult supervision, as required by state law. This course will also satisfy the state requirements for personal watercraft users who are 16 or 17 years of age. All graduates will be issued a course completion diploma and a Safety Certificate. Taking the class as a family is encouraged and has proven to be highly rewarding.

"GREASE" TRIP
St. Mary's Church, 840 Page Blvd., is sponsoring a trip to the Warner Theater in Torrington, Conn., to see "Grease" on Feb. 17. A buffet luncheon at the Cornucopia Restaurant will precede the show. Tickets are $76 per person (includes the bus, driver's gratuity, luncheon and show). The bus will leave St. Mary's parking lot at 10 a.m. and return around 6:30 p.m. We will be attending the 2 p.m. matinee. Call Sylvia to make your reservation at 594-2757.

FOXWOODS CASINO & BINGO TRIP

WILBRAHAM
MONDAY DANCE PROGRAM
The Wilbraham Parks & Rec. Dept. is pleased to have been offering jazz, hip-hop, ballet and tap classes with The Mary Ann Studio of Dance for 19 years. Specific classes are held in the Wilbraham Middle School Auditorium for ages two through teens. The spring session will run Jan. 7 - May with a recital. Cost for the session is $65 for residents, $75.00 for out-of-towners. If you would like to participate in the May Recital, there will be an additional costume fee. Registration is now being accepted at the WPR office or download the form from the WPR Web site and mail it in with proper payment.
