EAST LONGMEADOW
ATTENTION PARENTS
School vacation hockey ticket offer Springfield Falcons' President Day Game, Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. Falcons vs Manchester Monarchs. Children's tickets are $6, adults, $10. Free public skating 11 a.m. - noon. Tickets will not be available at the box office. Come into the Rec. Dept. weekdays. Payments can be made by check, cash or credit card. Pick up tickets at the will call window, beginning at 10 a.m. on day of game.

NEW PROGRAM
The E.L. Rec. Dept. will be sponsoring a 1st/2nd grade girls softball league this year for those presently enrolled in 1st/2nd grade. Must provide own glove, cleats are optional. Come into the Rec. Dept. weekdays to register. Deadline is March 7.

SPRING SPORTS
Registrations are being taken in the office for the following spring sports intown soccer, boys/girls lacrosse, girls softball, baseball and competitive swim. Please refer to spring brochure for deadlines for registering. Come into the Rec. Dept. weekdays.

BASEBALL BUS TRIPS
The E.L. Rec. Dept./Men's Softball Association are co-sponsoring baseball bus trips for Red Sox games in Boston and one Yankee game in N.Y. Call 525-5437 or 531-6954 for more info.

SENIOR FRIENDSHIP CLUB
The E.L. Senior Friendship Club will celebrate Valentine's Day with a 50th Wedding Anniversary Party on Feb. 14 at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St., with entertainment provided by the Agawam Melody Band. All performances are free of charge and open to the public. Luncheon is roast pork w/gravy, sweet potato, Prince Edward vegetables and pudding. Call 525-5436 at least one day in advance for noon lunch reservations.

AARP TAX ASSISTANCE
AARP tax aide counselors will be doing income tax processing at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St., on Mondays through April 14. Due to ongoing renovations, we can only accommodate four tax counselors, so we are giving priority to E.L. residents this year. Out of town residents can call us for alternate sites. Please call early for your appointment at 525-5436, or come in to sign up, as we are now booking into March and April. Don't miss out on this valuable free service provided to seniors!

COMMODITIES DISTRIBUTION
Commodities will be distributed on Feb. 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. To qualify, you must be an E.L. resident of any age, and you must demonstrate need by showing documentation of your participation in any of the following programs: Welfare, AFDC, Food Stamps, Fuel Assistance, WIC, SSI, Medicaid, Veteran's Aid, Head Start or sign a statement showing your Gross Yearly Income falls at or below certain amounts. You must sign up at the Senior Center and will be given a ticket which you will keep for the year. No commodities will be given without a ticket.

LEMON PIE FUNDRAISER
The E.L. Senior Friendship Club will be hosting its annual Sandwich and Lemon Pie Fundraiser on March 13 at the Pleasant View Senior Center. Tickets will be sold on the following Thursdays during the Friendship Club meetings at the Senior Center: Feb. 21, 28 and March 6. BAY PATH PRODUCTION
Bay Path College will be presenting "Destry Rides Again" with a special performance for local senior groups on Feb. 29 at 8 p.m. in the Mills Theatre located on the Bay Path College Campus. The discounted tickets are $8 for seniors (regularly $15) and a limited quantity will be available at the Pleasant View Senior Center. CENTER CLOSED FOR HOLIDAY
The Pleasant View Senior Center will be closed in observance of President's Day on Feb. 18. There will be no Meals on Wheels delivered on that day.

GREATER SPRINGFIELD
ROAST BEEF DINNER

ORCHID SHOW
The Amherst Orchid Society will hold its annual orchid show on Feb. 23, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Feb. 24, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Smith Vocational High School, 80 Locust St., Route 9, Northampton, next to Cooley Dickinson Hospital. There is a nominal fee. Children under 12 are free. This show will be judged by the American Orchid Society and is open to the public. There will be a number of orchid displays and vendors. COOKING WITH MINO
The second class in the series titled "Cooking with Mino" is scheduled for Feb. 19 and is quickly filling up. Every class will consist of five courses, and Mino shows you step-by-step instructions for each authentic Italian dish. When the dish is completed, you will sit down to enjoy it with a glass of wine paired specifically to that course. The process (cooking demo/consumption of food and wine) will be repeated with each dish. Class will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Register early. Class size is limited to 15 people. HAMPDEN
ALL ADULTS WELCOME
The New Beginnings Adult Education Program is ready to kick off another exciting semester at Minnechaug Regional High School. Enrichment courses will be offered beginning the week of Feb. 25. Numerous computer courses, ballroom dancing, one stroke folk art painting, beading, yoga and several health and fitness classes will also be offered. DISCUSSION GROUP
The Longmeadow Adult Center holds a discussion of current events on the third Tuesday of each month. Everyone is welcome to join this group, which is led by a moderator. CINDERELLA
Longmeadow High School Drama Club presents Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Cinderella," Feb. 28 and 29 at 6:30 p.m. and March 1 at 1 p.m. Tickets are $5 for children and $7 for adults. The show will take place at Longmeadow High School, 95 Grassy Gutter Rd.

MUSIC FOR MOMS, BABIES & TYKES
Join other moms and caregivers at the Storrs Library on Feb. 20 for a music program. At 10:30 a.m. children from birth to six years can participate in Music for Little People. Join us for a fun-filled musical family event with an experienced teacher from Music for Little People who will lead the group in music and movement. This action filled program will help your children to establish a foundation for a lifelong enjoyment of music. This event is free to the public. TALES OF SEA AND SHORE
Join us for a Tales of Sea and Shore with Sparky's Puppets. A treasure hunting pirate and his parrot will ask the audience to help them with clues that lead to the discovery of a treasure chest full of stories. CONVERSATIONAL ITALIAN

NEW ENGLAND FLOWER SHOW

FREE ICE SKATING RINK CLOSED
The ice rink at Blinn Tennis Courts will be unable to open this season due to technical difficulties. The Longmeadow Parks & Rec. Dept. apologizes for any inconvenience and is hopeful to have the ice skating rink up and running for next winter season.

SPRINGFIELD
SPRINGFIELD ROTARY CLUB
The Springfield Rotary Club announced that Dennis Picard, director of Storrowton Village Museum, will address the Rotary Club's luncheon meeting on Feb. 15. The subject of this talk will be "Crystal Products of the Frost King: Ice Harvesting and the Natural Ice Industry in New England." Picard has been demonstrating the ice harvesting trade for 10 years at museums and environmental education centers. He will display some of his antique tools of that trade including several invented here in Massachusetts. The Springfield Rotary Club meets every Friday at 12:15 p.m. in the Mass Mutual Room at The Basketball Hall of Fame. The Rotary luncheon, with guest speaker Picard, is $17 per person and is open to the public. COMEDY AND JAZZ
An evening of comedy and jazz will be presented by the 100th Anniversary Committee of the St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Springfield. The event will be held March 1 at the Greek Cultural Center, and will feature Greek-American comedienne Ellen Karis and the music of the Lou Stamas Trio. A donation of $25 includes comedy, music, hors d'oeuvres, coffee and dessert. A cash bar will be available. STORYTELLERS

St. Patrick's Day Celebration
Evangel Assembly in Wilbraham (348 Stony Hill Rd.) is planning a special celebration in honor of St. Patrick's Day. The Sunday morning services (9 & 10:30 a.m.) on March 16 will feature worship music done in Celtic style, Celtic music performances and a dramatic presentation based on the life of St. Patrick. UNITED CHURCH GUILD
