FREE REIKI SHARES
Free reiki shares are coming to Quantum Life Management Center, 30 Westwood Ave. on the last Thursday of every month from 7 - 9 p.m. Whether you are familiar with reiki or would like to experience for the first time, these shares will give everyone an opportunity to learn, grow and heal in an atmosphere of divine love and light. BOOK CLUB
The East Longmeadow Senior Center Book Club will meet on Feb. 24 at 10:30 a.m. The group will discuss "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle" by David Wroblewsky. The club is open to the public.
LAMB SHANK DINNER
The Greek Orthodox Church of St. Luke will again be hosting its famous Lamb Shank Dinner at the Pappas Fellowship Hall, 400 Prospect St., on Feb. 22 at noon. The dinner will consist of complimentary wine, fruit cup, salad, lamb shank, potatoes, green beans, dinner rolls, dessert and coffee; all for $17. A spaghetti and meatball dinner will also be available for children and adults at $6. For reservations call the Church office at 525-4551 or Steve at 782-6518. Reservations must be made by Feb. 16. AARP TAX ASSISTANCE
AARP Tax Aide Counselors have begun income tax processing at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St., on Mondays through mid-April. We are only offering this service to East Longmeadow residents. Out of town residents can call us for alternate site locations. Call early for your appointment at 525-5436, or come in to sign up.
PRESCRIPTION ADVANTAGE
A SHINE Regional Director and a representative from Prescription Advantage will be at the Pleasant View Senior Center to explain the changes happening to Prescription Advantage coverage on Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. Questions will be welcomed at this informational session.
COMMODITIES DISTRIBUTION
We will be distributing commodities on Feb. 18 from 1 - 3 p.m. To qualify you must be an East Longmeadow resident of any age and show proof of need. This will be the first distribution for 2009. If you need a ticket, sign up in the Senior Center office at 525-5436. No commodities will be given without a ticket.
BLOOD DRIVE RESCHEDULED DATE
Give blood on Feb. 24 between 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., when the Mercy Hospital Blood Mobile will be in the parking lot of the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. For appointments, call 748-9406. Walk-ins also welcome.
FRIENDSHIP CLUB LEMON PIE FUNDRAISER

CREATIVE WRITING COURSE
For all with an unfulfilled interest in writing as well as those who have been writing forever, Adventures in Writing offers a relaxed, writer-friendly opportunity to experiment. The six-week session begins March 12 and meets Thursdays from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. There is a fee. This is not an academic course, but a non-stressful way to develop, enliven and sharpen your own style. Enrollment limited, early sign-up is recommended.
STROKE & TURN CLINIC
The E.L. Rec. Dept. will offer a six week stroke/turn clinic for those who swam on the Marlins Comp. Swim Team spring/summer '08 and winter '08/'09. Limited to 40 participants, ages 10 and up. For more info, call 525-5437.

SPRING SPORTS SWAP
The E.L. Rec. Dept. will conduct a spring sports swap on March 29 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Rec. Dept. Drop off days are March 26 and 27. This is a great opportunity to clean out your home of unwanted cleats, bats, gloves, lacrosse sticks and gear, shin guards only equipment in good condition will be accepted.

GARDEN CLUB MEETING
The Feb. 26 meeting of the East Longmeadow Garden Club will feature a hands on workshop by Judy Severin. Members and guests will create a framed, pressed flower collage with dried materials from last summer's gardens. Founder of the club, Esther Rosati, will also instruct members on the Art of Potpourri. The meeting will take place in Fellowship Hall of the Congo Church on the rotary at noon. Guest fee is $2 and yearly membership is $15.

ADVENTURES AMONG THE STARS

WOMEN'S NEW MOON CHANT

The Springfield JCC will host a seminar titled "Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Social Networking" on March 5, 7 - 8:30 p.m., 1160 Dickinson St. in Springfield. ANNUAL ORCHID SHOW
The Amherst Orchid Society will host its annual orchid show on Feb. 21, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Feb. 22, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., at Smith Vocational High School, 80 Locust St., Northampton. There is a nominal fee of $3; children under 12 are free. This show will be judged by the American Orchid Society and is open to the public. There will be a number of orchid displays and vendors. VACATION OPEN SWIM TIMES
Ages 14 and older (younger participants welcome with parental supervision) can come and swim at the heated LHS pool. Changing rooms and showers are available. Extra lifeguards will be on duty. LEARN TO CARTOON
Do you enjoy doodling funny characters whenever you have a pen or pencil in your hand? If yes, then this class is for you. Learn the fundamentals of drawing while at the same time focusing on technique, types of media and developing your individual style. Special attention will be placed on the participants view as well as interpretation. Primarily, black and white drawing will be implemented with some color and different forms of media. PANCAKE SUPPER
On Feb. 24 from 5:30 - 7 p.m. Trinity United Methodist Church will host a pancake supper to celebrate Shrove Tuesday. JAZZ SUNDAY
On Feb. 22 South Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, will celebrate its 10th annual Jazz Sunday just prior to the beginning of Lent. The Hot Cat Jazz Band will return to play both at the 10 a.m. worship service and the 11 a.m. Mardi Gras Reception, which will feature New Orleans-style beignets, cafe au lait, and Lucius Weathersby's famous gumbo. ITALIAN FILM SERIES
The Italian Cultural Center, 56 Margaret St., is hosting a First Friday Film Series featuring three early films of the legendary Italian director Michaelangelo Antonioni. The 10-12 Wilbraham Falcons Baseball team will host a can and bottle drive on Feb. 28 from 8 a.m. - noon at the Scantic Valley YMCA east parking lot, Post Office Park. Proceeds to benefit the Wilbraham Falcons 10-12 baseball team.
