LADIES NIGHT OUT Ladies Night Out at the E.L. Public Library is back by popular demand. It will take place Feb. 29 from 7 - 10 p.m. in the library's Community room. WOOD BOILER REGISTRATION The Board of Health reminds residents that the deadline to register existing outdoor wood burning boilers for grandfathered status is Feb. 29. To register an existing outdoor wood burning boiler, residents must contact the Board of Health Office in Town Hall at 525-5400 ext. 420. SENIOR FRIENDSHIP CLUB The E.L. Senior Friendship Club will be playing Sweetheart BINGO on Feb. 28 at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. Luncheon is beef stew w/potatoes, four way mixed vegetables and mixed fruit. AARP TAX ASSISTANCE AARP tax aide counselors will be doing income tax processing at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St., on Mondays through April 14. Due to space limitations we are giving priority to E.L. residents this year. Out of town residents can call us for alternate site locations. BAY PATH PRODUCTION Bay Path College will be presenting "Destry Rides Again" with a special performance for local senior groups on Feb. 29 at 8 p.m. in the Mills Theatre located on the Bay Path College campus. The discounted tickets are $8 for seniors (regularly $15) and a limited quantity will be available at the Pleasant View Senior Center.
DESIGN YOUR OWN JEWELRY Sandy Merrill's popular jewelry class will take place again March 3 from 9:30 - 11 a.m. at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. Cost for class instruction is $2, supplies are extra. No sign up required, come on in and make something pretty!
NEW CHAIR PILATES CLASS The Pilates Center of W. Mass. is pleased to announce a new class at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. This class will incorporate all the Pilates principles including core strengthening as well as balance training in a safe, effective workout. This will be a six-week series beginning March 12 from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. To register, call or stop in to the Senior Center, 525-5436. There is a fee for this class.

CELTIC DIMENSIONS DANCERS TO PERFORM Come see an Irish step dance performance on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, at 12:15 p.m. at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. The dancers, ages five - 15, study at the Dance Dimensions studio in E.L. The performance is free and open to the public. Lunch will be baked chicken, roasted potato, mixed vegetables and pears. Call 525-5436 at least one day in advance for noon lunch reservations.
MAH JONG, ANYONE? Are you interested in learning how to play Mah Jong? We will be offering four weeks of instruction in two-hour classes on Tuesday afternoons, beginning in April. Classes are free and open to everyone. Please sign up in the Senior Center office.
COMPETITIVE SWIM REGISTRATIONS The E.L. Rec. Dept. announces that registrations for the spring/summer Marlins Competitive Swim program will take place at ELHS on April 30 from 7 - 8 p.m. in the cafeteria. After this date, register in the Office. Those ages six - 18 are eligible to swim; however, they must be able to complete 25 yards freestyle to participate in the program. Practices begin May 5 and run Mon. - Thurs. evenings from 6 - 9 p.m. Coach will indicate swimmers time. Championships take place in July. SPRING SPORTS REGISTRATION DEADLINES The E.L. Rec. Dept. announces the following deadlines coming up for parents to register their child/children for spring sports: Baseball March 7; Girls Lacross March 7; Girls softball March 7. Come into the Rec. REGIONAL SELECT BOARD MEETING There will be a Regional Select Board meeting on March 13 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be hosted by the town of Longmeadow at 34 Williams St. in the Police Station Community Room.
OPEN MIC NIGHT AT THE JCC The Springfield Jewish Community Center will host an open mic caf March 1 at 7 p.m., 1160 Dickinson St. in Springfield. Performers from throughout Greater Springfield will provide various forms of entertainment. Desserts and beverages will be available for purchase and will be served by JCC Theatrix performers. This event raises funds for JCC theater programs. All seats are $10. Groups of eight can reserve a table for $18 more. Tickets may be purchased at the JCC or by calling 739-4715.

MICROSOFT EXCEL Ed Edler's six-week spring computer class will explore the basic function of spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel at the Longmeadow Adult Center. Topics include creating, editing, formatting, saving and printing spreadsheets. It also covers the use of formulas and built-in functions to solve mathematical, statistical and business problems. SPRINGTIME IN NEW YORK CITY Springtime will be here soon and what better way to celebrate the good weather than to spend a day strolling the streets of NYC. BRONX ZOO TRIP Its April school vacation week and our travels will take us to the Bronx Zoo in NYC. Visit over 4000 animals, many in their natural habitat. Our trip includes zoo admission, unlimited shuttle, cable car and several selected exhibits including the children's zoo, butterfly exhibit, reptile world and the Congo Gorilla Forest plus more. VISIT BOSTON BY LAND AND BY SEA There is so much to see in Boston and we have the perfect trip for those who want to see it by land and by sea. Our day begins with a stop at the Boston Museum of Science where participants will be able to play and learn through interactive exhibits and experiments. Afterward, board your "DUCK," an authentic, renovated World War II amphibious landing vehicle. You will travel through the streets of Boston before heading to the Charles River where your "DUCK" splashes into the river for a memorable view of Boston from the water. LONGMEADOW GIRLS SOFTBALL Girls in grades 1 - 9 are eligible to play in this spring league, which runs from April - June. Practices are one to two times per week and generally, there are one to two games a week as well. Registration takes place Feb. 28, 7 - 9 p.m. at the Longmeadow Community House.
LITTLE LEAGUE ASSOCIATION For boys and girls ages five - 12. Coordinated by Longmeadow Little League Assc. and sponsored by Longmeadow Parks & Rec. Dept., this in- town program offers an opportunity to learn baseball skills while having fun. Everyone makes a team and all games during regular season are played in town. KARATE-SHOTOKAN STYLE Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation (SKIF System) includes an international standardized syllabus of stretching, kihon (basic), Kata (forms) and Kumite (sparring). Students train in the basic excersices involving punching, blocking, kicking, stances, forms, sparring and self-defense. This class is open to all ages. Members may sign up to attend either youth classes on Tuesdays or adult classes on Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturdays with the Adult and Child Class combined on Thursdays. AMERICAN GIRL WORKSHOP Learn all about the latest historical doll, Julie Albright, while sewing and decorating a fabric purse using jean material and felt flowers. Julie had a purse just like the one you will be making when she was growing up in the 1970's. We will also enjoy refreshments and play American Girl games. At the end of the program, there will be time to purchase American Girl books, clothing and accessories at discounted prices. Bring a favorite doll with you if you like! TEEN CENTER Youths in grades 6 - 8 and their guests are welcome to enjoy a supervised evening out on Fridays from 7 - 10 p.m. at the Greenwood Center. Admission is $7 per person. All students must sign in prior to entry. School dress codes are strictly followed. Teen Center is run and staffed by area college students. WORKSHOPS The Center for Business and Technology at STCC will conduct training opportunities and computer workshops. Router and Router Table Techniques begins March 1. ROTARY CLUB MEETING Dr. Melissa Morriss-Olson, Ph.D., dean of The Graduate School, director of the Graduate Programs in Nonprofit Management and Philanthropy and Professor of Nonprofit Management and Philanthropy at Bay Path College will address the Springfield Rotary Club's luncheon meeting on Feb. 29. The subject of her talk will be "Nonprofits in the 21st Century Management Challenges and Opportunities." MRHS FITNESS CENTER DEDICATION A formal dedication ceremony of the new Minnechaug Regional High School Student Fitness Center will take place Feb. 27 at 9:15 a.m. During the ceremony the center's donors will be acknowledged and a plaque that will commemorate their support and generosity will be unveiled.
Wilbraham Garden Club The Wilbraham Garden Club will hold their monthly meeting at the Wilbraham Library March 6 at noon. The guest speaker, Julie Anne Collier, will discuss North American birds of prey. She is a licensed raptor rehabilitator based in Massachusetts. She cares for injured birds of prey and has used them in over 5,000 educational programs throughout New England.
OPRO Children's Concert There will be an OPRO Children's Concert 2008 at Soule Road School, 300 Soule Rd., from 1 - 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
