AGAWAM HOSPICE VOLUNTEER TRAINING Hospice Services of Western Mass. is seeking volunteers to provide supportive care to patients and their caregivers who are facing a life-limiting illness. Volunteers are invited to participate in a comprehensive training program to be held at our Agawam office in February. All potential volunteers will need to complete an application process prior to starting the training program, please contact us immediately to begin this process. After completion of the training, volunteers will be assigned to hospice patients in their own communities. CHICOPEE SQUARE DANCE CLUB The Quabbin Valley Twirlers Square Dance Club will sponsor a square dance on Jan. 12 at 8 p.m. The dance will be held at St. George's Church Hall at 33 Maple St. Our class level Snowflake Ball welcomes dancers new and experienced to join us in chasing away the winter doldrums. DRESS PARADE OF CADETS West Point invites you to view the famous dress parade of cadets on April 26. Lunch at the Hotel Thayer's fabulous buffet. SENIOR TRAVEL CLUB Spend the day at Venus DeMilo in Swansea with the Chicopee Senior Travel Club to see Dublin's traditional Irish Cabaret starring Noel Ginnity and singer Paul Hennessy on March 13. CAREGIVERS SUPPORT GROUP On Jan. 22, a support group for those providing care will be held at the Chicopee Senior Center, 7 Valley View Ct. from 3 - 4 p.m. It is free of charge and if you would like more info or to register, call 534-3698. The Caregivers Support Group meets once a month on the fourth Tues. and is facilitated by Jared Krok, social service coordinator ad Ken Sibley, Chicopee Visiting Nurse Association.
IN GOOD COMPANY In Good Company is a support group for people who are feeling blue or experiencing mild depression. The support group is held on the fourth Tues. of every month at 10 a.m. The next meeting will be Jan. 22, 10 a.m., at the Chicopee Senior Center, 7 Valley View Ct. There is no fee for this program. The group is facilitated by a professional who can assist you with coping strategies, info on additional assistance and support. For more info, call 534-3698.
ALZHEIMER'S SUPPORT GROUP On Jan. 16, Gerri Bennett, R.N. will provide info on Alzheimer's. Support is also provided to help you provide the best care for your loved one. The program will be held at the Chicopee Senior Center, 7 Valley View Ct., at 3:30 p.m. There is no cost for this program. If you would like further info or to register, call 534-3698. The Alzheimer's Support Group meets regularly on the third Wed. of every month.

RED SOX TRIP TO TORONTO The Chicopee Parks & Rec. Dept. is sponsoring a three-day road trip to see the Red Sox take on the Blue Jays in Toronto. Trip also includes a visit to Niagara Falls, transportation, seats for both games, hotel stay for two nights at the Delta Chelsea Hotel in the heart of Toronto, duty free shopping at the border, April 4 - 6. SPAGHETTI SUPPER Faith United Methodist Church, 191 Montcalm St. spaghetti supper Jan. 17, 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. Cost: $5, adult; $2.50, children eight to 12; free for children under eight. Dinner includes spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bead, homemade desserts, coffee and cold drinks. Take out is available by calling 533-6093 after 2 p.m. All proceeds from this supper will be donated in kindness and with a joyful heart. Handicap accessible to the Fellowship Hall and Sanctuary.
REHEARSAL FOR SINGIN' SENIORS If you would like to be in a fun, entertaining group, come on Jan. 10 at 1 p.m. in the main room of the Chicopee Senior Center, 7 Valley View Ct. Anyone 60 years or older is welcome. This year's show will be on April 27 and will consist of song, dance and comedy. No auditions or prior experience necessary. GREATER SPRINGFIELD SQUARE DANCE CLUB The Quabbin Valley Square Dance Club will hold a beginners square dance at the American Legion in Belchertown, Rte. 202, behind the police station, on all Wed. evenings at 7 p.m. The first two dances are free. SOUTHWICK INDOOR TAG SALE The Southwick Senior Center will be having an indoor tag sale in January and February. Bring in any table top items you may want to donate for the sale and you might even find a treasure for yourself.
TRIP TO FOXWOODS The Southwick Senior Center will be going to Foxwoods Feb. 11 leaving at 7:30 a.m. and returning at 5 p.m. The cost is $15. There is still plenty of room. Call 569-5498 or stop in to the Senior Center to sign up.
2008 CENSUS A 2008 census will be mailed out at the beginning of January. Please take the time to fill them out. If you do not receive your census by Jan. 22, please contact the Town Clerk's office at 569-5505.
2008 DOG LICENSES New for 2008, dog license applications will be on the back of the census. If you currently hold a 2007 license, complete the form and send back to the Town Clerk's Office at 454 College Highway with a valid copy of the rabies certificate, certificate of spaying/neutering and a self-addressed envelope. Make check payable to the Town of Southwick. All 2007 dog licenses expire March 31. All dogs must be registered by May 1 to avoid a late fee. The Town Clerk's Office is available 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
ANIMAL SHELTER DONATIONS The Town of Southwick Board of Selectmen is attempting to contact individuals who have previously made a donation to the Southwick Animal Shelter. At this time they would like to have donors re-declare the intent of their donation for animal shelter related expenses. If you have not received a letter in this regard, and have proof of donation, please contact the Accounting Office, no later than Jan. 31 at 569-5995.
SPRINGFIELD MAGOVERN TO SPEAK AT ROTARY Robert Magovern, longtime Agawam town councilor and president of the Agawam Rotary Club will address the Springfield Rotary Club's luncheon meeting on Jan. 11 at 12:15 p.m. The cost is $17 per person and is open to the public. The Springfield Rotary Club meets every Friday at 12:15 p.m. in the Mass Mutual Room at The Basketball Hall of Fame. WESTFIELD "Y'S BIGGEST LOSER" The YMCA of Greater Westfield is offering the "Y's Biggest Loser" challenge. This 12-week motivating weight loss program begins Jan. 21. Each participant will be randomly assigned to a group that will be led by a designated coach. Your trainer will meet with you individually once a week to discuss food journal and exercise routine. The cost for the program is $100 for members and $175 for limited and non-members.You must be at least 21 years old and a full member of the YMCA to use the facility. HULA HOOPING CLASS SERIES The YMCA of Greater Westfield is now offering a Hula Hooping Class Series. This class will be offered Feb. 1, 8 and 15. WEST SPRINGFIELD COIN CLUB The West Springfield Coin Club will meet Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 214 Elm St. A presentation and discussion will include facts about the first regular issue U.S. cent.
