AGAWAM
CULTURAL COUNCIL MEETING
The Agawam Cultural Council is meeting on May 11 at 7 p.m. at the Agawam Public Library, 750 Cooper St. The meeting is open to the public. This all-volunteer organization, appointed by the mayor and funded in part by the Mass. Cultural Council, is looking for new members.
FREE DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENING
On May 21 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., Agawam Early Childhood Center and Westfield Infant Toddler will be having a free developmental screening for children birth -- age four. This screening is offered to children who are residents of Agawam or Feeding Hills. Children will be seen by appt. only; contact Christine at the Agawam Early Childhood Center at 821-0597.
GOLF TOURNAMENT
The Agawam Band Parents Assoc. is hosting a golf tournament to benefit the Agawam High School band program on June 19 at St. Anne Country Club. Cost: $350/foursome, $100 per individual golfer; includes 18 holes of golf, cart, greens fees, buffet dinner, awards ceremony, door prize raffle and gift. BULLYING PREVENTION FORUM
The next Bullying Prevention Community Forum will take place May 12 from 7 - 9 p.m. at the middle school. Panelists: Dr. Mary Czajkowski, superintendent; State Sen. Stephen Buoniconti; Bill Corbett, author of "Cooperative Kids"; Pastor Susan Feurzeig of Agawam United Methodist Church; Mark Poggi, high school resource officer and more.
WOMEN'S CLUB BANQUET
Agawam Catholic Women's Club will be hosting its May Banquet on May 10 at the Casa Di Lisa Restaurant. Cocktails at 6:30 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. Chicken Francaise or Bake Atlantic Cod will be the choices. Price: $25/person. AUTISM OPEN HOUSE
Community Resources for People with Autism will be hosting an Autism Spectrum Disorders open house at the Agawam Public Library on May 10 at 6:30 p.m. Jason Litto, family support manager and autism specialist, will be at the library to answer questions and provide current info on resources and events available to local residents. TRICK SHOT ARTIST VISIT
The Chicopee Council on Aging will host a pool trick shot program on May 13 at 10 a.m. at the Chicopee Senior Center featuring Bruce "The Big Guy" Barthelette. He will demonstrate his amazing billiard skills which have earned him a ranking of eighth in the world and the current world record for the highest jump of a ball (15-1/4 inches). EARLY COLLEGE PLANNING
Parents and students in grades 7 - 10 are invited to attend MEFA's free comprehensive presentation on Early College Planning at Ludlow High School May 11 at 6:30 p.m. An experienced MEFA rep. will provide strategies for maximizing opportunities in high school, and cover the essentials of making a financial plan for college. Families will receive a seminar booklet which serves as a year-round resource. Time is allowed for questions and answers.
SUBVETS INC.
The Baystate West Chapter of Subvets Inc. will be host their regular meeting on May 16 beginning at 2 p.m. at the WWII Club on Conz Street in Northampton. SWINGLES SQUARE DANCE CLUB
The Swingles Square Dance Club will host a mainstream dance (ice cream dance) on May 17. Mainstream dance on May 21 (Bali Bali dance). Dances take place at the United Mittineague Methodist Church on Amostown Road in West Springfield from 8 - 10:30 p.m. with early rounds from 7:30 - 8 p.m. Dance are $6 per person and we welcome singles and couples. "LOVE LETTERS"
On May 16, the Friends of the Council on Aging will present the play "Love Letters" by A.R. Gurney in the Mater Dolorosa Hall at 1:30 p.m. Actors are Barbara Bernard and Seymour Frankel, who performed "Love Letters" to sold out audiences at Panache Productions in Springfield and for fundraisers for the JCC and Wistariahurst. MOTHER'S DAY CAR WASH
Want to surprise mom, and show her how much you love her? Or do you want to show how much you care for your car? On May 8 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., the eighth grade class of First Lutheran School will host a car wash $5 for every vehicle. Proceeds benefit the class (made up of youth from First Lutheran Church and School, Holyoke, and Trinity Lutheran Church, Easthampton, and other area towns) trip to Philadelphia and Hershey and Lancaster. WISTERIA VINES IN BLOOM
Wistariahurst Museum, built in 1868, was the home to the William Skinner Family. The property is named for the expansive wisteria vines that cover the mansion. These 100-year-old vines bloom once a year for several weeks. Come enjoy one of the most spectacular displays of wisteria in the Valley now.

The South Hadley Women's Club Executive Board will meet on May 11 at 1 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 319 Granby Rd., to finalize their fiscal year and divulge their Secret Pals. A Business Meeting will take place May 12 at 11 a.m. at the Orchards Golf Course and the scholarships will be awarded to the S.H. seniors following the luncheon.
