AGAWAM
FRIENDS DINNER
The Friends of the Agawam Senior Center will be having a half-chicken and spaghetti dinner with garlic bread, salad and strawberry shortcake on Oct. 24 from 5 - 7 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 10. Tickets can be purcahsed at the Senior Center or from Ken or Rose Berry. This will probably be our last dinner at the old Senior Center.

SLIME TIME FALL FUN FESTIVAL
St. David's Episcopal Church, 699 Springfield St., will host a Free Slime Time Fall Fun Festival on Nov. 1 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. There will be games, prizes, candy, a bounce house and soup cook-off. This event will happen rain or shine and all are welcome.

FUN AT THE ATRIUM
St. David's Episcopal Church is inviting children, teens, moms and dads to visit with the residents of the Atrium (located on Cooper Street) on Oct. 23 from 4:15 - 5 pm. This is a time of games and sharing. All welcome.

PILGRIMAGE FOR PEACE
The Episcopal Diocese of Western Mass. and Christ Church Cathedral will host the "Peace Pilgrims" in community conversation for Peace, Justice and Care of Creation on Oct. 23 at 4 p.m. at Christ Church Cathedral, 37 Chestnut St. in Springfield. ROAST BEEF SUPPER

NATURE WALK
The Friends of Robinson State Park will host a free guided walk with Blozan co-founder of Eatern Native Tree Society on Oct. 30 at 10 a.m. Participants should meet at ticket booth at the park's main gate on North Street. TURNING 65 AND MEDICARE
Jim Zabik from Bankers Life and Casualty is presenting a seminar in the conference room of the Chicopee Public Library at 6 p.m. on Nov. 3. The title of his seminar will be "Turning 65 and Medicare." The subject covered will be what to do when you turn 65 and want to go on Medicare.

BEREAVEMENT OUTREACH
Bereavement outreach of St. Stanislaus Basilica will host a grief support group on Oct. 25 at 2:30 p.m. and will meet at the St. Hyacinth Senior Friars Residence at the back of the church parking lot on the last Saturday of every month. ATTENTION KNITTERS
The Granby Public Library's "In Stitches" knitting circle is planning their third annual Knitting Fashion Show for Nov. 8. We are looking for knitters and crocheters to exhibit their work. HOLYOKE
'SPOOKTACULAR"
The Holyoke Parks & Rec. Dept. announced that the Halloween "Spooktacular" will take place at Holyoke Heritage State Park on Oct. 25 from 1 - 3:30 p.m. The Holyoke High School Fall Festival will take place in conjunction. Join together for a costume parade at 1 p.m. at the Merry-Go-Round; tour a haunted house at the Visitor's Center at Holyoke Heritage State Park; and listen to nationally known storyteller Tom McCabe at the Children's Museum. Merry-Go-Round and admission to the Children's Museum are half price with costume. This family event is designed for children ages two - 10. The Holyoke High School Fall Festival will include crafters, games for kids of all ages, and other items for sale.

Hiking the Holyoke Range
On Oct. 26, starting at 9 a.m., leaders will be Dave and Suzy Gallup. Meeting place: Notch Visitors Center, Rte. 116 in Amherst. Join us for a hike through the Holyoke Range. After lunch on the summit of Norwotuck, we will hike to the "horse caves." Here we will trace the steps of Daniel Shays (c. 1787). Wear sturdy footwear and bring a snack/lunch and water. Celebrate Halloween
Safe Kids of Western Mass. and the Holyoke Fire Dept. will be hosting a Halloween party for all children under 12. Oct. 24, 2 - 5 p.m., 600 High St. Come in costume to trick or treat! ELKS SPAGHETTI SUPPER
On Oct. 30 the Holyoke Lodge of Elks 902 will serve an all you can eat spaghetti supper at the Lodge Home on Whitney Avenue from 4 - 7 p.m. Menu: tossed salad, spaghetti with Elks special meat sauce, parmesan cheese, plain and garlic rolls, lemonade, coffee or tea. ANNUAL HARVEST SUPPER

HALLOWEEN PARTY
The Southwick Park & Rec. Dept. will be hosting their annual Halloween Party on Oct. 25 from 1 - 3 p.m. at the Town Hall Community Center. There will be pumpkins to decorate, movies to watch, yummy treats to be devoured and a hayride.

HALLOWEEN POT LUCK

FASHION SHOW
The Southwick Senior Center is having a fall/winter holiday fashion show on Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. - noon. We would love to have a good crowd to see our volunteers display all the new fashions being provided by the Dress Barn in Westfield.

SENIOR BIRTHDAYS

CANCELED CLASSES
The Southwick Senior Center will have to cancel all classes on Nov. 4 due to the elections. We also had to cancel Monday Jazzercise due to the lack of interest.

ZUMBA GOLD
Southwick Senior Center would like to start a new class on Mondays at 10 a.m. called ZUMBA Gold. It's aerobic dancing to Latin music. If anyone would be interested call the center at 569-5498.

Historic Trinity United Methodist Church, 361 Sumner Ave., will host their 5th Fall Arts & Crafts Festival from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Oct. 25. They will offer the work of over 30 community vendors, featuring delectable homemade goodies, handmade articles, a kids corner for face painting and craft making, caricatures and much more. GOSPEL CONCERT
St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 45 Buckingham St., will have a Gospel Concert at the church on Oct. 26 at 5 p.m. The concert is a fundraiser for replacement of the present heating system. JIM KAPLAN TO SPEAK
Former Sports Illustrated writer and author Jim Kaplan will address the Springfield Rotary Club's luncheon meeting on Oct. 24. His topic will be his latest book, "Walkoffs, Last Licks and Final Outs; Baseball's Grand (and not-so-grand) Finales" which he co-authored with Bill Chuck. JAZZ CONCERT

CANAL LECTURE

YOUTH BASKETBALL AT YMCA
There is still time to register for the YMCA of Greater Westfield's three divisions of youth basketball for this winter. The divisions are set up to play on Saturdays as follows: ages 7 - 9 and 10 - 12, Nov. 8 - March 7 late morning to early afternoon; ages 5 - 6, Dec. 6 - Feb. 28 mid-morning. The YMCA's Fright Night hosted by the YMCA Leaders Club will take place Oct. 24 - 25 the YMCA of Greater Westfield. FILM LECTURE
Film critics Frederick Gooding and Khalid Patterson from the online magazine the Minority Reporter will present "You Mean There's Race In My Movie?" at 7 p.m. on Oct. 23 in Scanlon Banquet Hall at Westfield State College. The event is part of the college's Guest Lecture Series, which is free and open to the public. The speakers offer a presentation that critically analyzes the issue of race in mainstream movies.

Westfield State Rep. SLAVE TRADE LECTURE
Angela Keiser and Rachel Burcin will present "Emptying the Pockets of Forgetfulness," about the world slave trade, at 4 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Scanlon Banquet Hall at Westfield State College. This is free and open to the public. The speakers will discuss of UNESCO Transatlantic Slave Trade Education Project: Breaking The Silence (TST Project), an innovative global curriculum initiative in Africa, Europe and the Americas aimed at understanding of the magnitude and New World impact of the transatlantic slave trade.

COIN SHOW
The West Springfield Coin Club will host its semi-annual Coin Show at the Dante Club, 1198 Memorial Ave., from 9:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Oct. 26. RUMMAGE SALE
Grace Lutheran Church on Route 20 will host a rummage sale in the church hall on Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Used, but usable clothing and tag sale items are needed. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will match the money made at the tag sale, which will be used for various church programs. MERRICK CLEAN UP DAY
The Precinct 1 & 2 Neighborhood Committee and Community Police are sponsoring a Merrick clean up day on Oct. 25 to clean the streets of litter. Volunteers will meet in the Corson Playground on Main Street at 9 a.m. for donuts and juice and will then divide into teams to walk the streets picking up litter. The cleanup will be over by noon. Many volunteers are needed to make this cleanup a success. For more info, call the Community Police at 263-3390.

BEATLEMANIA TICKETS
Tickets for the Beatlemania concert at West Springfield High School are still available. The original Broadway cast will take the stage Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. General admission tickets, $25 in advance/$30 at the door, are available at the School Dept. The West Springfield Public Library will present Rita Parisi as hostess for an All Hallows Eve Tea on Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. Rita, as the character of Mrs. Gordon, a lady from 1908, will discuss how people celebrated Halloween at the turn of the last century.
