CHRISTIANITY EXPLORED CLASS
First Baptist Church, 50 Parker St. We will be hosting a 10-week DVD series called "Christianity Explored" beginning Sept. 30. The class will begin at 6:30 p.m. each Wed. evening in our new Community Life Center. "Christianity Explored" is an informal class for people who would like to investigate Christianity or just brush up on the basics. Attendees won't be asked to pray, sing or read aloud and will be encouraged to ask as many questions as they like. CLASS OF '84 REUNION
The ELHS Class of 1984 is hosting its 25th class reunion on Nov. 27 (7 - 11 p.m.) at the Knights of Columbus, 26 Baldwin St. The casual evening includes a buffet of hors d'oeuvres, beer on tap and a cash bar. Adult Book Discussion Group

BOWLING
The E.L. Rec. Dept./Shaker Bowl is accepting enrollment in their afterschool bowling program, which begins Sept. 28. This 10-week program meets Mondays from 2:45 - 5 p.m. for Mapleshade and Mt. View schools only. Bus transportation is provided from the schools. Stop by the Rec. Dept., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., Mon. - Fri. to fill out enrollment form. After Sept. 28, register at the bowling alley.
BASKETBALL CLINIC
The E.L. Rec. Dept., in conjunction with Tony Bergeron and Erik Maurer will again sponsor a basketball clinic for E.L. residents currently in grades 5 - 8 (co-ed) at ELHS on Sept. 29, 30 and Oct. 1 from 7 - 8:45 p.m. There will be intense teaching of fundamentals through station instruction. Register at the Rec. Dept., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., Mon. - Fri.
COMPETITIVE SWIM
The E.L. Rec. Dept. is accepting enrollment for its Marlins competitive swim team. Practices take place Mon. - Thurs. evenings at ELHS and begin on Sept. 28, with new Coach Greg Pearsall. Those ages six - 18 are eligible to swim and must be able to complete 25 yards freestyle to participate. Meets will begin in Dec. on Saturdays. Season will run through Jan., with championships the last weekend. Come into Office Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. to register.
ANIME CLUB
Anime Club for Teens will meet on Sept. 29 from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. in the library's Community Room. Teens in grades 6 - 12 are invited to join Jordan Olsen, ELHS graduate and anime enthusiast, for a fun hour of watching anime with friends. Meetings will also focus on sharing reviews, planning future club events, improving the library's anime/manga collections and more. The Anime Club will meet every other Tues. ADULT BASKETBALL PROGRAM
The E.L. Rec. Dept. is seeking participants for an adult basketball program to run Sept. 28 - Dec. 21. This is a new program and we are trying to determine the level of interest for a program of this kind. Call the Rec. Dept. at 525-5437 for more info.
SENIOR FRIENDSHIP CLUB

VETERANS COFFEE HOUR
Maryann Lyman from the Dept. of Veterans Affairs will speak about eligibility for veterans programs on Sept. 22 from 9 - 11 a.m. at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 N. Main St. All veterans are welcome. The next meeting will be Oct. 20 with guest speaker Larry White from the Holyoke VNA Hospice, who will discuss end of life issues. Coffee and snacks served at all meetings.

The fall meeting of the Welsh Society of Western New England will take place on Sept. 26 at the Yarde House Restaurant in South Hadley at noon. PIG ROAST
The Rec. Assoc. of Hampden will be hosting a pig roast on Oct. 10 at the Hampden VFW. Festivities commence at 2 p.m. and includes live music, 50/50 raffle, pie eating contest, duck race down the Scantic River, pumpkin painting and many more games for the kids. Tickets are $20 per adult ($25 if purchased at the door) and $10 for children 12 and under. All proceeds to benefit the Hampden Youth Sports and Rec. programs. Tickets on sale now. Child Safety & Protection Event
Parents who are concerned about the safety of their children and want to take action to protect their children are invited to join us on Sept. 26 at the Storrs Library as New York Life Insurance Company will host a free Child Safety ID Event. Parents and children will receive free ID cards while learning important lessons about how to stay safe at home, at play and in the community. This event will run from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and will feature digital finger printing, photo for ID cards, complete with child's characteristics. Child safety is one of the primary concerns of parents today.
"CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR"
Christmas isn't truly here until you have a chance to visit Radio City Music Hall and see the "Christmas Spectacular." New acts have been added to the show this season along with the traditional favorites such as the March of the Wooden Soldier and the Live Nativity Scene. LONGMEADOW YOUTH SWIM TEAM
Competitive swim program for intermediate-level swimmers age 6 years - high school who can swim 50 yards or more and have knowledge of the four competitive swim strokes. Program meets four nights a week and participants are required to make at least two practices a week. Practices are Mon. - Thurs. at the LHS indoor pool from 6 - 6:45 p.m. for ages 10 and younger and 6:45 - 7:45 p.m. for ages 11 and older. Swim meets will take place on either Fri. nights or Sat. Team swimsuit is required and parents are asked to volunteer during swim meets. Registration dates at the LHS indoor pool are Oct. 19 - 22 from 5:30 - 6 p.m. For more info, call T.J. JAMBO TANZANIA COLLECTION
During the month of September Wilbraham United Church and Teens Helping Other Teens Survive (THOTS) of Minnechaug Regional High School will be taking a collection to benefit Jambo Tanzania, a non-profit organization founded by Dr. Mary Banda of Mercy Hospital. Jambo Tanzania is an organization that provides medical care and education to the village of Gera in Tanzania, Africa. We are collecting all sorts of school supplies, gently used clothing in every size and monetary donations for textbooks and mosquito nets. Donations may be left at Wilbraham United Church on Main Street in the Narthex until Oct. 2.
