Bissonnette enters third term

CHICOPEE -- Chicopee's Michael Bissonnette entered his third term with a ceremony at Elms College.

He told the audience that $80 million in business growth has helped the city keep some of the effects of the recession at bay, but the continuing economic conditions "make everyday choices hard and planning to long term capital projects even more difficult."

He announced a strategic plan for the Uniroyal/Facemate would be released July 1 and the city was about to close on purchasing 33 acres of former military housing with a developer in place to take over the project.
