CHICOPEE – Renowned floral designer Bill Graham believes that “life is not a dress rehearsal” and that every day – we should all enjoy the beautiful things in life.

Graham, owner of Beautiful Things in historic Salem, will be the guest speaker on April 26 when parishioners of Our Lady of the Cross Parish in Holyoke host an entertaining afternoon titled “The Little Black Dress Affair” at the Castle of Knights on Memorial Drive in Chicopee.

Barbara Gagnon, one of the event’s organizers, noted in an interview with Reminder Publications that the noon to 3 p.m. program will be “filled with fun and glamorous ideas to spice up your wardrobe.”

Gagnon explained that Graham uses a model form featuring a black dress and then teaches the audience how to accessorize.

“He will create eight fashionable ensembles, starting with the blank slate of a little black dress,” she said.

Gagnon added that Graham delights in creating different and unique designs – not only for ensembles but also for floral arrangements. His shop specializes in creative floral design, whimsical gift items, and women’s accessories including hats.

Graham is a member of the prestigious American Institute of Floral Designers, the American Academy of Florists, and Professional Floral Commentators International.

Gagnon noted that Graham is an entertainer and a humorist who enjoys sharing his ideas, anecdotes, and stories.

“The afternoon will be a delight for all,” she said.

In addition to Graham’s presentation, a host of baskets and special gifts will be raffled, as well as eight floral arrangements created by Graham.

Tickets are $30 per person and includes a hot buffet featuring lemon chicken, roast beef, salad, vegetables, beverage and dessert. The deadline to purchase tickets is April 25.

For tickets or more information, contact Gagnon at 527-5597, Jean Dietrich at 536-3391, or the church rectory at 532-5661.
