SPRINGFIELD -- School Committee Vice Chair Norman Roldan has confirmed there is a special audit and investigation into the financial records of Roger L. Putnam Vocational Technical High School.

Roldan told Reminder Publications that because the investigation is ongoing, he could not comment on its focus. He could not say when the audit began, saying only that Gilbert Traversol, new principal of Putnam, requested the audit "as soon as he came in."

He said "an outside firm" is performing the audit and the Springfield Police Department is also involved in the investigation.

Roldan said he couldn't comment "at this point not until we get the audit [back.]"
