O’Connor named to replace Maloney on School Committee |

WESTFIELD —Timothy J. O’Connor became the newest member of the Westfield School Committee, following a unanimous vote during a special joint meeting of the City Council and School Committee on Aug. 11.
City Clerk and Clerk of the Council Karen Fanion confirmed that Ward Two City Councilor James Brown, Ward Four City Councilor Mary O’Connell and City Councilors At Large Nicholas Morganelli, Jr. and David A. Flaherty were not in attendance for the vote.
O’Connor replaces School Committee member Laura Maloney, who recently resigned. Her term ended on July 29.
O’Connor was nominated for the position by School Committee member Cynthia Sullivan. According to material provided by the City Clerk’s office, he will serve as a member of the School Committee until a candidate elected in the November race is sworn into the office in January 2012.
