Grant Kuehl, a 16-year-old Boy Scout, completed his Eagle Scout project by donating 9,693 books and new bookshelves to Brightside for Families and Children center on Riverdale Street. "The books will be a gift that keeps on giving," Brenda McCormick, interim vice-president of Brightside, said. "The turnout [for the book drive] was better than anything I ever expected," Kuehl said. "I was hoping to fill a bookshelf and I filled a library." In addition to the books, Kuehl also donated bookshelves and $175 to Brightside, $53 of which he found in donated books. Phyllis Lewis, director of volunteers at Brightside, hands new Eagle Scout Grant Kuehl a letter of thanks for his efforts.
