|The Select Board has reached agreement with all general government and school services on a balanced budget for fiscal year 2010. That s good news! My thanks to Paul Santaniello, Select Board chair, and the School Committee who worked together to resolve what could have been a very disagreeable situation. Furthermore, the Finance Committee has studied this budget and will be recommending it for voter approval at the April 28 town meeting. That s also good news!|
The second piece of good news is that the Select Board and the town manager have submitted to the state and federal government a request to fund a group of shovel-ready capital projects totaling $5,000,000, an amount which begins to address our $200,000,000 backlog of infrastructure needs.
For the moment it appears that town government will be appropriately funded through mid 2010, i.e. the end of the fiscal year 2010.
