People's Park

On behalf of the Stanley Park family, I would like to sincerely thank everyone who assisted us recently in regards to the malicious damage caused at Stanley Park during the overnight of March 16-17, 2010.
We all consider the facility that we have been entrusted with as the "People's Park" and are very disappointed in the senseless and widespread vandalism that occurred.
The overall spirit of cooperation and phone calls that were received with offers of help to restore and repair the facility is most heartwarming and appreciated. It shows us just how important this facility is to the entire area. There are just too many individuals to list in this letter, but please know that we sincerely thank each and every one of you who called.
In working closely with the Westfield Police Department and Detective Kevin Swords we obtained surveillance information, fingerprints and other leads. It is hoped that those responsible will come forward and have a discussion with Detective Swords so that this matter may be resolved in an amicable manner.
We are also in the process of instituting a "Friends of Stanley Park." This will be a group of area residents who will offer additional surveillance for the Park. This "neighborhood watch" will assist us by making immediate reports of any suspicious activity and will supplement the additional installed cameras and other recording and reporting devices in place. If you would like to be involved with the "Friends", please call us at 413-568-9312.
In addition, please note, that as of Mother's Day Sunday May 9, 2010, Stanley Park will become a "No Smoking" facility including the buildings and the grounds. We appreciate your anticipated support for this change.
Thank you as we look forward to Opening Day, May 1, 2010.
