Shelter provided fond memories
As residents of Est Longmeadow, our remembrance of the week-long power outage caused by the October “blizzard” is now nothing more than a sad memory. Enough said about those long dark hours! More important are the fond memories of the time spent at the Birchland Middle School shelter thoughts of volunteers’ kindness, and laughs with strangers who are now new acquaintances. The exceptionally organized, caring emergency staff deserves the utmost in gratitude from we recipients of their gracious, thoughtful, and patient services.
The only hope now is that surrounding communities (upon hearing of the successful goings-on at the East Longmeadow shelter) may have been astute enough to have sent observers to our town to see a truly commendable effort worthy of imitation in other cities and towns.
(P.S. To East Longmeadow residents let’s support the request for funds for a power generator for the senior center).
