East Longmeadow is a wonderful community with supportive and involved parents and many generous businesses. Our Parent Teacher Organizations are inviting, open, and bountiful to our schools. Our parents have served on committees, task forces, and interview committees. Our local business have donated time, expertise, materials, money and services to our schools - all too numerous to mention.
Our faculty and staff have constantly risen to the challenges of academia, as well as social issues such as the current H1N1 influenza. Our staff is committed, engaged, and always ready to help children and their families. East Longmeadow is fortunate to have such dedicated employees where the turn-over rate is so low, and the commitment level is so high. Our school unions and associations have worked in harmony with our town to make many things financially possible for East Longmeadow.
Our administrators are selfless professionals who work hard, long, and strive to deliver an academic program that is "second to none." They work evenings, weekends, and rise early each new day to meet the challenges of society and to change young lives for tomorrow and the future.
Our curriculum has grown in many areas over the past decade. East Longmeadow was among the first to have school websites that offered parent access to our aligned curriculum guides and standards. Our staff has worked tirelessly on creating curriculum maps for curricula consistency in all subject areas, gifted and talented education, and created new programs for special needs students. Our town has funded new school buildings, additional classrooms, capital facility improvements, and district-wide technology and computer labs for students - just to name a few.
I appreciate all of the opportunities that East Longmeadow has offered to our school system. Our town's civic groups, the Chamber of Commerce, the Willie Ross School for the Deaf partnership, the Lower Pioneer Valley Educational Collaborative, the East Longmeadow Education Endowment, and more - all have enriched the quality experiences of our students and schools. For these reasons, and so many more - I sincerely thank you.
